Woolly Mammoth — Local services in Seattle

Woolly Mammoth is the best classic shoe store in Seattle -- and it's a one minute from the U-District Light Rail. I recently bought the best pair of work shoes in my life here. Edit: I'm on my second pair and they are great. I am now expanding into Burkenstocks!

After four years of painful, poor-fitting and cramped shoes, I gave myself a break and wore sandals all summer--in spite of my work in building maintenance and repair.

So, when Fall came, I began looking for a really good pair of work shoes. I spend ten hours a day on my feet or kneeling.

One of two things usually happen when I buy new shoes--either the shoes fall apart quickly or they start to hurt. I have wide feet.

So last week, the people at Woolly Mammoth fitted me with the most exquisitely comfortable pair of Keen work shoes. After wearing them for less then a week, they are the most comfortable but sturdy pair of footwear I have owned in many, many years.

I can count on Woolly Mammoth to have the kind of high quality and comfortable shoes that I look for. Even better that I can look through their current selection online and see if they have something that might work for my specific needs. Yesterday I went in hoping to find a certain model and size of Dansko shoe. The clerk was immediately helpful and found what I was looking for. She watched carefully when I tried on the pair of shoes (strap at heel) and demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the shoes by her observations of how they fit. There was no high pressure sales pitches, just careful attention and feedback. When I choose shoes there, I’m never disappointed.
