We found the museum very unique in that it shows us how far we've come as a civilization, despite the painful and tragic ordeals that we as a species have forced upon each other over the past century. From world wars and genocide to gender and racial injustice, it shows the challenging path that that we have charted for ourselves. Things what we have overcome, what we’re working on today, and what we have yet to face. The exhibits highlight the events, villains, and heroes of the recent past while touching on modern problems and events faced by today's society, such as the rise of populism, war in Ukraine and the Middle East, climate change, religious intolerance, gender rights, and more. It is a grand vision in scope, meant to elicit a feeling not too dissimilar from the "overview" effect that astronauts experience when the look at the Earth from space for the first time, and realize how in reality there are no borders and we are all in this together. As such, what touched me the most is how inclusive and safe the space feels. Regardless of where you come from, what your nationality, religion, gender, or other attributes may be - you will feel welcome here.
