NBD! If you are nostalgic, this is the place to go. Lots of polyester slacks for the ladies ( I think I ditched mine in the 70s). For those of you familiar with Stein Mart, this store is very similar. Costume jewelry states a markdown of 70% but you can still pay $6-7 on some not so trendy pieces. Seasonal scarves $4.48, some wallets for $9.98. Nothing appealing in the dress department. Some Sketchers at $35. Some name brand ladies slippers selling for $9.98 at Sam's and elsewhere are $7.98 here. Some jackets were $39.99. Also those fleece blankets and throws are comparable or less elsewhere. Some pet beds were selling for $5 but they were for smaller sized pets and this may have just been a promotional price. If your guy likes fleece pants, they're a good price. Households ? Not impressed enough to buy. Food items costlier than elsewhere. I've gotten better prices at JCP with a coupon. Also with the Covid business going on, people wore masks but they crowded on one another and would reach across you to examine an item. In the aisles you had to protect yourself from being hit by a cart- funny how people have forgotten to say simple things like "excuse me" or "I'm sorry, I didn't see you" (but they did). At the register line, they have floor markings for distancing, yet I still had shopping carts right against my backside and people don't get it when you tell them to back off. Now I can say, been there done that. Would I go back ?...
Read moreThe clothing options they have here are so incredibly awful, you could run a thriving undercover pizzeria in the depths of those clothing racks for weeks on end before getting busted. Months, if you humbled yourself enough to ditch the stately but sadly very visible chef hat.
"Awful" is merely an opinion, of course. Some may love the whole ruffled/tropical/mustard-y purple/flimsy polyester/90s-floral/shaped-like- a-squarish-blob vibe.
You do you, hun.
However... the purses are so amazing they easily make up for whatever may be lacking in the clothing department, and are $20 each. That inflation will get you every time, I sigh to think of the good old days when they were priced at $18.
Look at the designer brands they supposedly are, and weep with laughter my friends. Valid question though: if a fake looks just as great, what is the purpose of the "real" ones?
There are a ton of other things in the store, but I always spend so much time deciding on purses that I never get much of a chance to look at the rest.
But most importantly, this is a prime people watching location.
(Cue the flood of bespectacled anthropologists running to the scene upon reading this, clipboards in one hand and CBD lattes in the other. I renounce any liability related to that situation okay, but I will sell them pizza when...
Read moreI had never been to a Hamricks store when my sister wanted to stop on our way to pigeon forge. I was browsing the snacks & 'gourmet' foods sections & I found the prices to be rather high when I could actually find a price. Randomly, it seemed, items were priced while those right beside them were not. In many cases there were price signs taped to the shelves indicating a certain area of goods for a certain price, but the borders were unclear & sometimes there were priced items in the area with a different price. There were no employees visible to ask but the store had many price scanners - none particularly close to the snacks area. I chose a few items & when my sister had finished shopping, we waited in line to check out nearly 20 minutes. If my sister had not been there, I would not have waited to spend $18. Twice while in line, ladies with carts full of stuff came up past us explaining they were with so-and-so ahead of us. In addition, we had to watch the ladies at the registers who looked like they were chained there. They never smiled & appeared automated in their slow motion movements. In all our time in line & checking out, I never saw a single smile on any of them. It was overall a terrible experience & I doubt I'll be interested in...
