To be forthright and clear: this is a review not about the store or the employees, but about World Market's AWEFUL curbside pickup. If the website says there's a product and gives a number of that product and it says "available for pickup today".... No. I had an awful experience trying to order a chaise cushion online, and wanted to have it shipped, but this large pillow comes with--and this is no joke--a flat-rate FREIGHT SHIPPING COST of $79. So, I selected curbside pickup, expecting it'd be, what, two or three hours to get a "ready for pickup" email.
However: the next day I received a reply to my complaint about the ridiculous shipping cost--which, let's be honest, has to be a mistake, right? A furniture accessory is tagged as a piece of furniture, because who in the world is going to pay 80 bucks to ship a 70 dollar pillow?—and what I got instead was (a) an "apology" that says "please kindly note that freight shipping items does not have free shipping but a standard flat rate of $79" (i.e., no acknowledgment that they've flagged a seat cushion as requiring freight shipping, not to mention, I didn't ask for or expect "free" shipping, I just didn't expect it to be 80 dollars!!!), and (b) a distinct acknowledgment that "After searching our system, we see your order is in transit to the pickup location. You will receive a 'Ready for Pickup' email once the store has received your order and processed it for pickup." Which means that yesterday, when I placed the order, there were NOT three ""available for pickup today." It comes from somewhere else entirely, in fact, has to be SHIPPED TO THE STORE BEFORE ME PICKING IT UP. So, would it really cost 80 bucks to ship that direct to me instead?
Never ordering for curbside pickup again and frankly, given the extreme lack of attention to my feedback complaint (which clearly no one read), I likely won't order from the website at all.
Anyway, if you want curbside pickup, proceed at your own risk. If you need it the day you order it, you're going to be...
Read moreREWARDS PROGRAM IS A FARCE!!! This store has been a tradition for me for stocking stuffers every year for the past eight years. I spend quite a bit of money around the holiday season to get unique stocking stuffers from this store and have always looked forward to this trip every year. The soaps and lotions I’ve always found to be great gifts. But they do not treat their customers with respect! Which to me, makes any of those other positive attributes null and void. I joined the rewards program 9 years ago and never received any coupons or even a welcome email. There was so little communication, that I didn’t even know I had an account. Until I went to a store to spend $400 per my normal Christmas tradition. And tried to join the program to save 15% per their in-store advertisement. The QR code would not let me join, and the website would not let me login. The store associates were no help. They just gave me a number to customer service, who confirmed that I had joined since 2013 and never been sent any communication about rewards I had earned. So they basically created a situation where I could not get an advertise discount nor could I use the rewards that I had rightfully earned. And their response to me? Is that it is MY FAULT because I wasn’t logging in to the World Market website every day and checking to see if i had rewards available. It isn’t that they never communicated anything to me and that their technology is so antiquated that it cant connect a customer’s phone number to their available discounts (like every other large store). They are blaming the customer for their bad customer experience. This to me is unforgivable. There has been no reward, only a bunch if excuses ss to why I don't deserve the rewards that were promised. Sorry world market, you have gotten the last $400 from me. I am taking my Christmas tradition to another store now. Happy Holidays and enjoy robbing...
Read moreReview moreso of company as a whole, not just the short pump location. Used to love this place. Now most of the furniture is plastic veneered, and employees have no idea on status of items actually available via their website, as if it's another company. Called their 800# as well, and employees there are equally as clueless about what they have for sale. We tried ordering the Zara rug 2x now, both times website said it was available and would be shipped in a few weeks. Each time, money was taken, we never heard back, had to follow up, and we're then told item wasn't actually available after the website clearly states it was. We waited, tried again, exact same process. We did get refunded, yet the rug still shows up as available online with ship to store option. Here's an idea, remove it from website if it's not available? Unfortunately, I don't recommend world market anymore, it used to be my go too, but with the switch over to veneered furniture at same cost as their older solid wood furniture and their hot mess of accurate website item availability it's become an afterthought.
Update: I do appreciate the quick response, but for it to be genuine, either remove the larger size of the zara rug from the website all together, or if it exist please track it down for me as I will buy. I imagine you'll hit dead ends trying to track it down as I did, feel my frustration as nobody knows...
