I currently live in Atlanta. I decided to give ACAC a free trial run as I was looking to join a new gym for my monthly visits to Virginia.
Let me say. The gym is absolutely amazing. I have no complaints about the gym only the people in the gym. As a young black woman, today I felt targeted and bullied which is very disheartening.
While relaxing in the sauna, I was sending a very important business text and email to a client. An older lady aggressively directed me to get off of my phone. I respectfully told her no because I was handling business. She tells me if I want to be on my phone I can build my own sauna in my house then makes a disturbing joke about taking pictures of kids in the pool which is a story for a different day. I was not taking pictures or bothering anyone around me. Just sending a text.
As I’m still typing, she then says she’s going to tell on me to the front desk if I don’t put my phone down. I told her that’s fine and she can do as she pleases. She leaves the sauna, goes to the front desk and comes back with an employee. At this point I’m extremely agitated but still being calm and respectful.
The employee explained they have a no phone policy in the locker room which I understand for privacy. I stated I understood the rules and will follow but this lady was causing a relaxing self care day to be very unpleasant for me. As I’m speaking to the employee about my experience, the lady very rudely starts to chime into my conversation.. At this point, my respect has gone out of the window. After speaking my mind, very anxious I decided to remove myself and leave the sauna..
As I’m packing up, The employee walks the lady out of the sauna. My locker was beside hers unfortunately but atp I am minding my business on the phone with a friend to calm me down from the situation. While I am on the phone, she is listening to my conversation and complaining to the employee of my choice of words because I called her miserable. Simply stating the obvious.
Thankfully the employee didn’t bother me further but this experience sadly has me hesitant on becoming a member. I was VERY excited to join but paying $100 to be treated this way by a current member on my second day is very...
Read moreI really wish they would higher older people like (retired vets) instead of teenagers and young adults under the age of 25. Here's why. The people at this ACAC has horrible customer service skills when it comes to alerting the members of new rules, issues that happened that day, pool closures, pool cleanings, etc. For example, an older man happened to be in the pool one day when the pool had to be closed. He had no idea the pool was being closed he was just in the pool like he normally is everyday on the rooftop. The young girl closed the pool and did not tell the man to get out of the pool, as she puts up the pool closed sign up. Later, she saw the man in the pool and goes over to the gentleman and with an attitude tells him, he needs to get out of the pool (as if he had gotten in the pool after she put the sign up.) Had she just paid attention when she was walking out she would have saw the man in the pool before she closed it. Either way, the way she approached a man was unacceptable. But I don't think he complained. I just feel when we adults are on the rooftop and we are doing something wrong the staff should pull us to the side and talk to us instead of embarrassing us in front of everybody and talking to us like children. And some of the managers on the rooftop are guilty as well. So their managers need to talk to them. Maybe you shouldn't be a manager if you don't have good customer service skills. Stop talking to adults as if they are children. Pull the adult over to the side and talk to them if you see someone doing something wrong. If they're in the hot tub and you see they're doing something wrong ask them can they please get out of the hot tub and speak with you as opposed to walking over to the hot tub and yelling over all the hot tub noise the rule you want implemented. Get it together people we pay too much money to come here for you to treat us like children and disrespect us. And stop changing the rules for your personal preference. I'm ready to end my membership and find me somewhere else to go I'm sure there are other places here...
Read moreThey are super unresponsive. They don't honor their promises and don't value customer time. My husband and I decided to register after their 3-day trial period. On Feb 1st we went to register and we were hoping to start the same day. They told us that we can't register because we don't have an appointment. They asked for our phone number and said someone in their membership team will reach out in the next 48 hours. No one called. After a few days, I called back hoping to set an appointment for registration. They asked for my phone number again and promised that someone would call the next morning. No one called!!! After a few days, I decided to email the membership advisor who signed us up for the 3-day trail. I assumed they would be more responsive to emails. Nope! In sum, I have tried multiple times to reach them and sign-up in-person, over the phone, and by email and I haven't been successful. It's time to move on!
Update: I appreciate you responding to my review. This is the first time I have received a response from ACAC in a month. Just to make a few things clear: 1) How can your emails not go through when I receive multiple emails a day in that account (Google's notification of your response being one of them), 2) If the membership team has called me 5 times, how come I've never received the calls or a voice mail? Again, I appreciate your response, but I have a hard time accepting they have reached out to me...
