Pelican Plaza Shopping Center — Local services in Siesta Key

One certainly has plethora of stores to browse and shop, but the parking lot is a challenge (show me one that's not, right?). Maybe someone can explain to me way people just have to walk behind your car WHILE you are already backing up. Or what I saw in my backup camera ... a baby carriage! It was below the rear deck (trunk lid) of my car & hence unseen thru my rear view mirror & the Mom 3-4 feet behind the front of the carriage (stroller) - in a blind spot of all my mirrors😳 Thank goodness for the backup camera (and related warning sounds)! Oh, for those of you that just step off a curb into a traffic lane in a parking lot (without even glancing either way for traffic) - YES, you DO have the Right of Way. BUT ... Maybe the driver of the car is as distracted as you are, maybe they are looking down at a ringing cellphone, or texting, changing a radio station, fiddling with their AC, etc, etc. Maybe they resent the arrogance (or stupidity) of someone just thinking that they are the center of the everything & the Multiverse just bends at the will. Being right is nice, being seriously injured (or dead) just isn't worth it. I'm training my dog to look both ways before crossing a street - you might want to take one of those lessons. Benderson, please make this parking lot safer. I have called the Sarasota County Sheriff and the county to report the dangerousness of this parking lot. Traffic entering the plaza at the Club Dr entrance do not have a stop sign or any kind of traffic signal.
