My three kids are part of the Sarasota Sharks swim team and have been swimming here since 2020. This was the only facility that was open during the pandemic and the only team in the area that graciously accepted our three athletes. We haven't looked back since! Not only is this a state-of-the-art facility, but the coaching is spectacular!! There have been several Olympic level athletes that have come out of the Sarasota Shark tank, which shows the exemplary nature and value of the coaching! My three kids love every single minute they spend at the Shark tank and their best friends are found at the pool. The best part? Whether you're looking to be a National level athlete, or just want to improve your skills and swim recreationally, the Sarasota Sharks is where it's at! I swim on the masters team and there are 4 timeslots a day where masters swimmers can get in the pool. Not only that, but they have open swim times. So if you can't make the morning or evening sessions, swim during open swim! They will be renovating the covered area in the next couple of months and that will improve the seating and covered area for both spectators and swimmers alike! I cannot speak more highly of the staff, the athletes and the facility. This is literally the greatest athletic sports facility in the area, possibly the state! Where else do you get to see palm trees on deck?!?!?! We love the Sarasota Sharks and if you have young athletes that need a team, come and try it out!! There's something for...
Read moreSelby Aquatic Center has a great pool and nice family water park. In the Summer, the pool was chilled nicely. Fantastic for lap swimmers. However, it is no longer managed by the adjacent YMCA. Instead, the Sarasota Sharks swim team has taken over management. Now, it’s closed more than open. Even Sharks swim team members swim elsewhere to get all their workouts in. Not open to public on weekends. Lifeguard availability and number required seem to be a problem. Future availability to lap swimmers may be limited to USMS members The dive boards, platforms and jacuzzi have been removed for insurance reasons. The water park is ONLY open on weekends during the summer. What a cryin’ shame of...
Read moreI am very upset with this place. I purchase swim fit class for my son, but after 3 classes I saw that this is very poor activity and my son really did not want to go there. Also on these 3 lessons he was on the bench because of the bleeding nose, so I requested a refund, because it was no sense to spend money on something which did not work. Unfortunately the manager said that there is no way to get a refund, because they don't care if you want or don't want to attend, if you like or don't like the way they teaching, so I lost $400 for nothing....
