Atlantic Gems is a special place, with old-fashioned customer service. They are a rarity, a family run business that has been in Downtown Silver Spring a long time. I design and create hand-knotted gemstone jewelry and have been doing business with Atlantic Gems for over 30 years. I’ve known Rahul since he was a toddler. Rahul and his mom now run the store. Rahul is friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. He listens to your needs, explains every step of the process, then does a quality job at an excellent price, within your budget. I highly recommend Atlantic Gems. They are a full service jewelry store, selling custom and ready-made rings, earrings and necklaces, plus beading supplies, Swarovski crystal and gold/silver findings. They are conveniently located 2 blocks off Georgia Ave, on 2nd Ave, about 5 minutes from 495, and are 2 blocks from a parking garage and 3 blocks from Metro.

Our son, J, a graphic artist, wanted to surprise his fiancée with a really special ring, one that he would design just for her. He envisioned a ruby within swirls of tiny diamonds, set in white gold, similar to an antique design they had seen together. When J asked friends for a jewelry store recommendation, they asked if he knew anyone in the jewelry business. ‘Just my mom’, so of course, I recommended Atlantic Gems, a place I’ve been doing business with since before J was born.

Our son and I came with a picture of an antique ring, and Rahul sat down with us and explained the entire process. First, we discussed budget, then together we re-worked the design so it was exactly what J had envisioned for his fiancée. Rahul patiently and thoroughly explained the differences between white, yellow and rosy gold and how to choose a quality ruby. J selected the perfect ruby from amongst several offered, leaving the diamond selection to Rahul. Within a few days, Rahul had created a Computer Aided Design (CAD), and emailed it to J. After J’s final approval, the CAD was sent out to be made into a ring by one of Rahul’s trusted local sources. The whole process was finished in about 3 weeks, a rush job, and J picked up the ring one day before he would ask her. The price was very reasonable, on budget and on time, exactly as promised. The ring is just beautiful, and yes, she was completely surprised, and thrilled that J had designed a ring just for her. And yes, she said yes. Rahul made everything so easy...

Atlantic Gems and its proprietor Rahul hit all the right notes: selection, customer service, and value. I was on the search for a place to purchase a proper engagement ring for my fiancée after I had initially proposed with a ring pop; the throwback nostalgic sucker from the late 70's and 80's. After the initial hours of happiness my lady asked me to get real and put a ring on it.

I had looked around the internet and noticed that this establishment was nearby so I decided to pop in on a whim. After speaking to Rahul for a few moments I knew my search was over, even though I had initially told my fiancée that we would go looking together over that same weekend.

Pushy sales people enrage me. Whenever I'd step into the various mall chain jewelers (I'm looking at you Kay Jewelers) I'd be mobbed by salespeople and inundated with their inane questions. Rahul was so laid back, friendly and accommodating that it was a pleasure to do business with him. Further, he has a huge selection of loose gemstones and can get others shipped to him if what he has on hand still doesn't fit the bill. You're only limited by your imagination. I had a custom Sapphire engagement ring made and although not all the design features I asked for could be implemented - one of the features I wanted would have compromised the integrity of the main stone, I'm not the one with decades of experience making jewelry so I deferred to the pro - I couldn't be happier with the results. Best of all my fiancée LOVES the ring and just gushes about it and admits that the wait (although short) was worth it.

If this place had 10 star reviews I would be more than happy to give them 10 stars. Rauhul is an expert at what he does . The man bends over backwards to get you what you're looking for at a decent fair price. The business is extremly customer friendly and once you enter the door you are welcomed with a huge meet and greet with an everlasting smile. No wait time and they answer all your questions. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking advice with jewelry. Top notch experience and flawless stones to suite your needs. Excellent designing and creating those stones I had asked to make. Rahul thanks for your expert advice and you did such a great job and my wife is stoked. Thanks for giving me and my wife cristi an everlasting smile and i will be back to get the otherthings done that we discussed one on one. .in person back today discuss the other ring. Maybe we can talk around the round table for a little negotiation? I have a few more things I would like to get done . Not sure who gave you a one star rating before but clearly he had no Idea what the hell he was doing or were he was going and should of used a GPS and took a little walk to locate your address . My ten year old found your location with absolutely no problem. Anyways this gem store does it all....
