The real review… Let me start by saying that they have really good ham… the apple spice flavor is perfection… the reason this is a 2 star is because Smithfield is falsely advertising that the ham will be 9-11 lbs and can serve about 18 people. The last two times I received my order the ham was 6lbs AT BEST. And I paid 109.00 the first time and 82.46 the second time. They don’t include the weight of the name on the packaging yet they tell you to allot 15 minutes per pound when cooking. This means you’ll have to either weigh the ham yourself or go back to the tracking information which they don’t send now either to find out the weigh of the ham for cooking. I’d hate to theorize that they’re hiding this information on purpose but I have nothing...

I called Smithfield Customer Service and left a voicemail concerning their deceptive labeling, however, no one has ever returned my call. The product that I purchased was labeled, in big bold letters, Shank Half Ham, but that is not the case, to the right, on that same label in small letters it reads Shank Portion Ham. A 1/2 of a ham will have center cut ham steak slices remaining on the cut. The cut, whether shank or butt half, will have center slices remaining. When sold as a portion the center slices are removed making a half a better cut . The end result was a portion ham with too much water content for which we paid half ham price. I wrote a review the other day stating my disappointment with my ham order and the way customer service treated my complaint. Unexpectantly a Manager/Supervisor called me and apologized for the situation and outcome of my complaint. She was most professional and gracious and sincere about not wanting to lose us as 20 year customers. I really appreciated the call, I did not expect anything but maybe a discount for future purchases; she even asked if she could send us another ham out for the Holidays.
