I had the best customer service experience in my entire life here. I came in on a Friday night, about an hour before closing, to buy a few feet of wire. It turned out that the guy who usually cuts the wire was out for a while due to some injury, and the only people who were there weren't super familiar with the equipment (it's more involved than you might expect). I approached an employee named Mike who worked in the plumbing department. He seemed genuinely eager to help out and proceeded to call a manager over for me. He took me to the wire and kept me company while we waited (for a very brief period of time). After a short moment, a supervisor named Amie arrived and seemed just as eager to help as Mike. She wasn't too familiar with the wire cutting equipment, but was more than willing to take on the task regardless. Another supervisor, named Anthony, showed up a few seconds later, followed by a man named Steve. All four of them were among the nicest people I've ever met and were working brilliantly as a team. It looked like people from all different departments came together and worked fluidly and naturally with one another. They all had smiles on their face (not the superficial customer service-y kind) and made me feel more welcome than I have ever felt in any retail setting. I'm usually fairly timid and a little awkward, but every single one of the people I interacted with was very approachable and that made it easy for me to behave naturally. I'm not the type to post reviews that single people out (or any reviews for that matter) because I understand that there are probably some others who would show the same level of excellence if they were put in the same situation, but I plain and simply don't want it to...
Read moreI rely on Home Depot a little too much. I've owned several homes in the last 30 years, and Home Depot has been patronized by me in that time. I've remodeled bathrooms, kitchens, installed doors, installed irrigation systems, built fences, and even my roof. One thing is consistent with Home Depot. It's big, and one customer isn't really a big deal to them. It's a box store. I encourage spending a little more time with specialty venues in a remodel. My latest project was a bathroom remodeling. Tub, tile, fixtures, and materials totaling about $2700. I ordered online. Online was cumbersome, and ultimately, my order had to be done by a telephone call. About 44 items. The online order was canceled 10 minutes later. For an unknown reason. Ultimately, I had to speak with a manager to order my items after five ongoing mystery cancelations. I was told it was a fault in the online system. That's probably the case. An additional issue was that some items were shipped to California. I live in Maine. Ultimately, I had to go back and forth to pick up my materials because they trickled in over a 10-day period. Things happen, but 5 reorders, shipping to wrong locations, and the back and forth make for some poor customer service and a company that is overall poorly run. I want to encourage people to use locally run small specialty businesses to get the job done right, at least on the second attempt. Home Depot is great if you want a box of screws or a cheap barbecue grill. But I don't recommend them for projects for your home, which is supposed to be their...
Read moreDON'T OREDER COUNTERTOPS FROM HOME DEPOT. I placed an order at the end of June. They measured in July and it's now September 24 and my project is not complete. My kitchen counters were measured at the end of July. Was told August 12 for install. Then it was August 17. They were installed on the 17th. They then had to measure a second time for the countertop for our 3/4 bath vanity and full bath vanity on August 16. I get home today, September 24, and find they have installed the chosen design for our bull bath in the 3/4 bath, which does not match the renovations that have been done. Lord only knows when they plan to install the tops for the full bath, and I'm guessing they have the design for our 3/4 bath being installed in my full bath. My contractor for my renovations contacted them at the beginning of the month when the kitchen tops were delayed and bathrooms needed to be measured again. His complaints were obviously ignored because things have only gotten worse. I now have a claim number. No usable bathroom sinks as I don't have correct countertops, but I have a claim number. So helpful! To sum it up: They have taken far too long, they have the incorrect item installed. The renovation that I have had done will need additional work when and if they correct their mistakes. By the way I also ordered my kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, plumbing and lighting fixtures, and all the kitchen appliances from these folks. I see how much they appreciate people like me. Don't fall into the same trap. ...
