A woman asked me for my name and I said it wasn’t necessary, especially since there were no other customers. My real first name is Burmese and so I prefer not to share it with strangers. Instead of leaving it be, she then proceeded to insist that she needed a name so I said it and then she continued to waste my time by insisting on getting the correct spelling since “as an English teacher” it’s very important to her (even though I already said it didn’t matter). On top of all that, she got my drink wrong. This wouldn’t have been a big deal if it hadn’t almost kill my mother. I ordered an iced chai with almond milk and made sure it was completely dairy free since I would be sharing with my mother, who is allergic to dairy. I made the mistake of letting her have the first sip which is when we found out that the barista forgot about my request for almond milk because my mother had a major allergic reaction.
