I don’t like to post experiences like this, but this one rubbed me the wrong way as I’ve never had an issue with cashiers at this location before. I also don’t appreciate how I was treated in front of my daughter. I was returning an item I no longer wanted and walked up to the register, a simple transaction. It was an older white woman working at cashier 5 today in the early afternoon. Right before me, she was all smiles and happy with the customer who happened to also be a white woman having a full blown conversation about where she worked and how she loved the food at her place of work. They did not seem like they were friends prior. As soon as I came up to say “hi, how are you?”, I put my iced coffee on the counter to take out the item from the bag (something that seemed pretty normal and didn’t think would be an issue). Not only did her smile go away, but I was instantly met with attitude and rudely the cashier said, “Can you put that (my coffee) down there on the ledge?”. Her demeanor was completely different from the customer before me and she almost seemed like she was judging me. It gave racist undertones and the whole interaction seemed awkward, making me uncomfortable, and she was rushing to get me out. Meanwhile moments ago she was having a full out happy conversation, all smiles and laughs. But as soon as I come up, smile goes away and she seems instantly annoyed. This area is a pretty diverse location, so not sure why the need to treat non-white customers this way. I also don’t know if the associate was aware she came off this way, but maybe some awareness training could be given. I still plan to continue going to this location as it’s the closest HomeGoods to me, but I would hope that associate is also made aware of how she comes off to customers, especially non-white customers. A very short interaction, but pretty impactful because of how it was...
Read moreIt's okay, but not great. This place has a custodian who is disabled, enrolled in part of a "job-skill" scam-program that doesn't actually advance the workers to move on, save the very rarest cases. Most of the (TJMaxx/Marshalls) locations in the area utilize this as a cheap option for custodial work, because the state and county offers subsidies for the nonprofit that contracts with them. It's a disgusting operation, because the "job coaches" are undertrained, understaffed, and underpaid. Everything about the company is about doing the bare minimum, but the disabled individuals are supposedly given wages for their efforts. However, not a soul will bother to help them obtain bank accounts to keep their funds in. Knowing that, would you shop here? Well, you should. While the prices on most items are disgustingly high, occasionally you find a bargain on something like cookwear or a garment on clearance. On the whole, the staff are friendly and keep the place in good order. You don't generally see them selling a damaged item, for example. The store is two stores in one: clothing in the TJMaxx and housewares & specialty food items in Homegoods. Many are closeouts and imports from abroad, while the clothing at TJMaxx is closeout from big name manufacturers that sell to larger department stores, like Macy's or Dillard's. Some are from last season, and are okay. It is a good place to pick up intimate apparel for a good price, as well as some women's workwear, or a gift garment for child or man. Shoes are hit or miss. Food items are a treat here, and include many gourmet delights or ingredients. So if you're willing to drop a little cash, you can get a bargain or two on something a little hard to find. Parking is convenient and the atmosphere is...
Read moreIf I could it would get minus stars. I had several returns from a store and I had all the tags. Just requesting store credit. The young man waiting on me clearly was not feeling me, or his job. He took extra time sanitizing hi station, refusing eye contact even tho I was next in line. He called the manager for everything and she went over the procedure more than once. He wanted her to do the returns. But she gave it to him. I also had two items to purchase. He was sooo tired from swiping the returns he just started sanitizing again, until I spoke up. Lots of sighing. I found myself apologizing for returns and he said, you bought a lot.(7 items) What was wrong with them? Ugh grrr! Also their plus section was sparse. Nothing to exchange. I'm not...
