Dog-Friendly but Pricey

Harbor Freight earns a star for their welcoming attitude towards our four-legged shopping buddies – always a nice touch! However, recent experiences leave me with mixed feelings. The Good: They are genuinely happy to have dogs accompany you while you browse. The Not-So-Good: The value proposition seems to have shifted significantly. Prices have been steadily climbing, and I've noticed several instances where items are priced similarly to, or even higher than, comparable name-brand products at major hardware stores. Be particularly aware of battery-powered tools, as the battery is often sold separately and can be surprisingly expensive. My recent purchase of an infrared thermometer highlighted another concern: a restocking fee applies even to relatively inexpensive items (in my case, a $6.99 item and a $15 thermometer). This policy makes me hesitant about future purchases, especially for items I might need to return. While they do stock some truly unique items – yes, I'm talking about that 24k gold-plated socket wrench! – these are likely not everyday necessities for most shoppers. Overall: Harbor Freight has changed from the go-to for unbeatable prices and great coupons. Now, the prices are often comparable to major retailers, and the quality can be inconsistent. This is a large store, and the first impression walking in can feel a bit intimidating. There are barricades at the entrance, a designated spot to push carts through, and a turnstile for people to walk in. I assume this setup is due to higher theft in the area.

That aside, my experience was very positive. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and kind. The store was clean, well-organized, and well-stocked. I was able to find everything I needed without trouble. I also noticed that this location had some newer items available that I haven’t seen at other Harbor Freight stores yet, which was a nice surprise.

There is no difference in price at harbor freight or Walmart about the same. Maybe $0.05 difference and use it for gas just to get from where you are to where you need to be. Actually I found stuff in Walmart. Same thing I found at harbor freight only. It was cheaper at Walmart. That's my opinion. So harbor freight is not really all that. It's just the advertising. How are they advertise and coupons and all that man is your special over at harbor freight so it's advertising and that brings people in but other than that you're really not missing out they're all the same.
