Joined this gym just before opening and go all the time. Itās a nice facility only because itās still new, but before long, it will look and feel very average at best. Listing the reasons below because after being a member here for a couple of months now, I see a pretty rapid decline in the facility and donāt think that anyone who works there really cares enough about the place to impact a positive change after speaking with them directly⦠(so maybe some public shaming will light a fire and get them to act). Here are things to know that are problematic: Many of the members donāt practice any kind of common gym etiquette on the gym floor or locker room⦠shaving and not cleaning up after themselves in the bathroom, weights thrown everywhere, abusing the equipment unnecessarily. I know these are hard things to control but itās a nuisance to be aware of. A lot of gym novices with no clue and no one to guide them. The gym is not as clean as it should be, especially the menās locker room floor (and sauna) with dust bunnies that will be there to greet you for days and floor tiles with stains that you will see every time you visit⦠as well as dust and body hair at the bottom of practically every locker I open. I do see one or two cleaning people there every time I visit, dusting in between the same treadmills while the locker room is an unhygienic mess. Clearly not being directed or managed. Lack of pride in workplace⦠feels like most people who work at this gym are just ācalling it inā. The front desk people are always on their phones, barely noticing if someone walks in and the dozen or so people behind them are just there to sell memberships and couldnāt care less about whatās happening in the gym. Generally a pretty unprofessional environment with no one really in charge so if you have an issue, it falls on deaf ears. I was enthusiastic to join this gym and had high hopes for its success. I was sold on it being a ābetter experienceā than the competition, but to be honest, Iām considering other more costly options with better service and a higher sense of priority on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad an incredibly terrible experience at the LA Fitness on Oak Tree Rd in South Plainfield, I came with my sister who uses a GymPass to come here, I was doing the 3-day free guest pass as offered on LAās website, I came on day one and they took my ID and didnāt explain anything about the guest pass or give a tour or literally anything for that matter. Day 2 I go in to use the guest pass again and I scanned in my guest pass just as I did yesterday, and signed the form they wanted me to, I was taken behind the counter to the membership desk with employee, Zayd, and was told since I already used the guest pass yesterday under my sisters I couldnāt today, she doesnāt have a direct LA Fitness pass and doesnāt even have guest abilities. I let the guy know I came yesterday and had never come prior to this gym. I was told I couldnāt use it today or again for that matter. I asked to speak to the GM, his name is Amari, and he flat out said that I either needed to pay the $20 for the day pass or leave. I asked to see the guest pass policy that states that I couldnāt use it for all three days and even showed my email from LA showing that. I then left the gym feeling frustrated, I called the corporate number that LA lists and after explaining our situation he got in contact with Amari from the location, who then decided to issue the 3-day guest pass to me so problem solved.
In all, it shouldāve been explained to me why that happened and why I couldnāt use it, I was very much considering using this gym as it is much closer to my home and offers different benefits from the one I currently go to. But now, since being treated unfairly I do not feel as though it is worth it to go here to have employees who simply do not care or give any decency to people wanting...

Just signed up for the gym a week ago and my app isn't working. The app is needed for checking in. When I went to the gym during the week, I informed the front desk person and all she did was took my phone number and never mentioned that I needed an ID. Today 5/9/25 around 3pm, I went in the gym pressed for time but wanted to get a quick workout in. Front desk person, Alfran or something like that, who claim he is the manager asked for my ID when I informed him my app isn't working. I left my ID in the car because I'm a paid member and just needed to work out. I told him to look it up by my phone number because that's what I was asked to do all week. I informed him that he would see my picture on file. He absolutely refused. He kept saying this rule was in effect May 1st, I signed up for the gym May 2nd and this was not told to me then or anytime I checked during the week.
Since I didn't want to encounter this problem again and I didn't want to run back to my car in the rain. I asked him to help me reset my app which required me to put in the last 5 digit of my cc number on file. My cc was also in the car. Sending me back to the car in the rain for a easy resolved issue is extremely poor customer service. As a new member he could of simple informed me of the rule I was not made aware of. As a result, out of frustration I just decide to work out another day.
Alfran if that's his name need to learn customer service towards new members especially since he states he is a manager.
If that's how new members are treated, I might have to reconsider my decision of...
