Sweet and Cool — Local services in South Salt Lake

The mango bingsoo and the mango slush boba is really good. I’ve been here 4-5 times now and I’ve enjoyed every single visit. However, the conditions these employees work in are cruel and unfair. 1 single employee through weekdays which is terrible considering when it gets slammed (like today) and most of the time they’re all really young employees. Even on the weekends when they have 2 employees it’s still not enough to make up for the work load. Every time I come in the young workers look so stressed and their cooking spaces are so dirty and you can’t even blame them because it’s one person per day. I know Sweet and Cool makes plenty of money to hire on more staff. Do better.

Owners response was just enough to cover his/her ass and keep profit for themselves. Of course I understand how difficult it is to run a business during this economy but I also understand how difficult it is to carry a business so that the owner gets to stay home and enjoy their profit. This isn’t something you should “look into” this is something that needs to be done. Don’t run a buisness if you can’t pay for your employees. If you can’t afford more staff then maybe you should go in...

Manager needs to spend a bit more time training for the newly opened store. The girls working tonight had bad service and didn’t know what they were doing. I came in with my family at 10:30 and asked if they are still open because obviously I didn’t want to come in if they are closed and she said no they close at 11. My family ordered some drinks, tayaki ice cream, and I got the two taiyaki and paid.

After waiting a bit she told me they ran out of batter and can’t make the rest of taiyaki (the ones my family ordered) but she made two for me. I say okay what can they do instead? She said the soft serve is fine so that’s what they get.

I wait for the two that she said she made for me. After a bit I asked about it and she said they turn off the machine every night at 10:30 so she couldn’t make it. I was wondering why they didn’t tell me that when I ordered, so I had to get a refund. She had to call her manager to ask how to do a refund.

I also saw her pour the taiyaki into the machine and then eat it later, probably not baked all the way so she couldn’t serve it to me. Just weird.

They need more training asap, I know the store...

As soon as I came inside the vibes were very nice and fresh. The building is very cute and the atmosphere is great! The furniture and decor is very cutesy. It smelled great inside too, very sweet. They have a great menu, and I've been really wanting to go to try the bingsoo. I was NOT disappointed! I ordered the strawberry bingsoo to go, it came out fast and in an adorable bucket with a lid so when im in my car it won't spill anywhere. It's super soft and sweet, not too syrupy and the strawberries taste so fresh. And the bucket came filled up all the way! :) It was very refreshing for this toasty weather. The kind worker was also very sweet and helpful, I felt very good ordering and even better when I got to try it. Seating was comfortable for my short wait, and my boyfriend and I just adored everything about the place. He won't stop eating all of my bingsoo, he agrees that it is super delicious..If you're thinking about trying the place out, I definitely recommend it!! Will hopefully be coming back soon for more of that super tasty bingsoo, and to try more of that great...
