I have been shopping at Aldi since 1999. It is, hands down, my favorite grocery store. Produce is always better than name brand supermarkets, and they are still cheaper than Walmart. Aldi has a line of organic foods that are really good as well, there a little bit pricier, but they are organic.
Aldi used to have barebone stores with not much decoration. They are remodeling a lot of their stores, and they just finished with the Washington PA store. The store is much nicer, and there are more products available. Aldi also has an aisle of non edible products ranging from camping supplies to car tools, vacuum cleaners to patio furniture, and kitchen gadgets to Electronics. They also have toiletries, but not a lot. One kind of deodorant for men, one kind for women. Two types of soap, two types of shampoo. They do have paper products, that are still about 10 to 15% cheaper than Walmart's prices. And the quality is a little bit better, in my opinion.
They have a very simple meat selection, some fresh things, and some things that were obviously Frozen, now in the fresh meat case. They have a nice assortment of Frozen Seafood, desserts, and side dishes. Aldi is a German company, so they get a lot of German foods in there as well.
All in all, you can expect to save anywhere from 10 to 30% off of Walmart's prices, which are probably the lowest. There are other stores out there that you can get better quality products at cheaper prices, but they are far and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI shopped in this store twice in the last month. With the exception of produce, refrigerated, and frozen foods, all stock was moved around throughout the store, in different places both times, and similar products were no longer stocked anywhere even close to each other! Are they doing this to hide the lack of stock? I pointed this out to a staff member who confided that the workers aren't thrilled by this either, and pointed out there were lots of other places to shop if I was looking for a "normal" shopping experience. Prices are going up, so costs are comparable to other local stores, and she made a really good point. I don't have the time or the patience to search everywhere for what I need, even though I go up an down every aisle, it's hard to find what I need! With the high cost of everything, I don't have the luxury of impulse buying anymore, and if that's the aim of this annoying change well then, I never thought I'd seriously consider ending my Aldi relationship over product placement, but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWriting this review strictly because of how rude the lady at the checkout was. While I was shopping, I noticed a jar of pickles that had a broken seal and cloudy liquid with white bits floating around in itā¦. Being that the seal was broken and the liquid inside was cloudy, itās safe to assume the jar of pickles has gone bad and should not be consumed. I very politely tried to tell the woman at the checkout- average height, very nice long grey hair in a ponytail. I didnāt catch her name, not that I think she would have given it to me. My exact words were, āThe seal on these pickles is broken and itās kinda yucky.ā This woman wouldnāt even give me the courtesy of looking at me. She simply sipped her water and said, āok.ā I laughed, turned around, and continued at self check out. Iām sorry you were having such a bad day, and I hope tomorrow is better. But rancid food really isnāt something to scoff off. Do better next time, please. So no...
