Where do I even begin with how happy I am with my restored chest!
This 1950’s cedar chest belonged to my Grandmother and sadly, over the years, it collected gigantic water rings on the top and the veneer was crackled everywhere. I’m a bit of a DIY’er and thought maybe I could refinish it myself. After gallons of citrus strip and more hours sanding than I’d like to admit… I had to wave the white flag. For something this precious, I knew I had to find a master. And what a master Stuart is. He is a true craftsman in every way. The communication from start to finish was flawless. I was so impressed by his true love of antique heirlooms and his very evident passion for his craft. He helped me decide on the most historically accurate “result” and kept me updated throughout the process. But nothing… nothing could have prepared me for the result. It is so evident that he put his heart and soul into this chest. He not only achieved the EXACT look I wanted, he repaired drawers, secured edge pieces and countless other jobs to make this piece shine. It was only when I was taking these pictures that I realized he had also restored the back of the chest. The attention to detail is mind blowing. I truly don’t think I’ve ever endorsed anyone as much as I endorse Stuart. I could have never dreamed to have a result this perfect! Forever thankful for Stuart’s work to make this an heirloom that will continue to be cherished for generations. (The first 3 photos are “before” and the last...
Read moreI hired Stuart to restore a pine coffee table that had been in our family for almost 70 years. The table had a huge stain ring almost in the center and a lot of scratches. It needed to be restored to its original beauty. This table had a lot of sentimental value and Stuart took that to heart. Pine wood is a very difficult wood to stain, but Stuart put his knowledge, heart and soul into this piece. He was excellent with his communication with me because he takes all his projects personally. He wanted to be sure it came out exactly how I wanted it to. His pricing is very good, but most importantly the quality of his craftsmanship is more than top notch. I was so thrilled with the final outcome. I can't stop staring at my beautiful table. I have included one "before" picture (the first one) and the others are "after" when I got it home. Thank you, Stuart for applying your talent to our family's coffee table. It means the...
Read moreMy grandmother passed away and I inherited her 120 year old Singer sewing machine. The sewing machine was kept in an unfinished basement, and over her years, the cabinet was in horrible disrepair. To me, this was a family heirloom that needed to survive and live on. Stuart took on restoring this to a condition that I think may even be better than it was when it was built in 1899. Stuart is a very talented and humble man, that has talent beyond words. He has given me something much more than a sewing machine. Do not give a second thought to get anything restored or refinisher with Second Wind. The finished product is just beautiful. And interacting with Stuart is a real pleasure as well. He is a top ...
