Food Lion — Local services in Southport

I have shopped at Food Lion for years! Recently I became involved with a local fund raiser for cancer! I have gone to the store on 3 occasions to see if we could get possible a gift card or a food donation for our event! On rack occasion the line staff have been very courteous! I have been told to leave my flier, leave my name and number, because the manager is not available! Today returned and again the manager was not in, however the assistant was clear in telling me they do not call back, and that it is the end of the year so they probably wouldn’t help! I am so disappointed on how this was handled and that a major store like this could not support a local cause! In the future I will be shopping at their competitors who do support...

I shop here often and the employees are great with the exception of one female. I bought a few things and asked the man at self checkout to help ring me up for a bag of ice. I paid for my things and almost forgot to get my ice so I turned back to get my bag of ice and after I got it and was headed for the exit, I heard her ask, rather loudly, "Did she pay for that ice?" I looked back and she was talking about me. I was mad and embarrassed, she shouted that so loudly, lots of people heard it and were looking! I have never stolen anything EVER!! Food Lion always has the best prices in Southport. They have Nature's promise brand bread which is made without using hydrogenated oil, this is a very important thing for my family. Also the dairy products are always good they have organic valley and Stonyfield which are wonderful products. They even have the best prices on jars of beets made with sugar instead of corn syrup, specials and friendly people make it a regular place to shop. The only drawback is they don't have any gutters over the entrance because whoever put this building together just decided to take that shortcut.
