Poppy Blowout Bar — Local services in Spanish Fort

Update: I received a call from the owner today, and I was pleasantly surprised by her response to my review. She was incredibly kind and suggested that I come back in to try again, even recommending a couple of highly praised staff members. I'm definitely going to take her up on that offer! It’s clear she really cares about her business, and I appreciate the effort she made to reach out. I’ll be sure to adjust my review based on my next experience because I don’t want to be the reason for any negativity.

Original review: I wish I could give this place zero stars. A blowout bar should have skilled professionals who know how to properly style hair. My sister and I went together, and unfortunately, the ladies who worked on our hair were not up to par. At least my sister's stylist knew how to wash hair correctly, but the girl who did my hair didn’t even wash my entire head!

To make matters worse, her nails were sharp, and she accidentally cut the side of my face while shampooing. Then, while drying my hair, she kept scratching my forehead. I brought it to her attention, but all she responded with was an uninterested "oh."

When she finished drying my hair, it was still damp. I pointed it out, and she just shrugged it off, saying, "Oh, well, I can dry it more." At that point, I had had enough. I told her no, that she had scratched my head and cut my face, and I was bleeding. I even showed her, but she didn’t apologize—she just walked away.

My sister’s hairdresser was kind enough to apologize to me, but honestly, this place was a disaster. I really think Alabama should require continuing education for hairdressers. Save yourself the trouble and...

Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Unfortunately, my hair was simply washed and curled - not a "blowout". My stylist and I reviewed photos before getting started of what I wanted (face framing, some volume, loose wave). She curled my hair with a curling iron then told me it would be best if I brushed through them later (closer to my event) - I explained that I know how to curl my hair and rake through them for a head full of curls - but I don't know how to get the final look we discussed. She brushed through my curls and told me that was all. I asked for clarification on what I need to ask for in the future or do to get the look in the photos, but she did not have any suggestions. I felt I paid for a blowout - a style I am not able to do - and I got a head full of curls which I could have done...

I hosted a rather large birthday party for girls ranging from 2-9. The staff went above and beyond. They were patient and kind, and even brought out a few surprises to entertain the girls while they waited their turn (makeup and body/hair glitter.) They made sure one of the birthday girls got extra pampering while respecting the other birthday girls wish to not participate (but making sure to check in every once in a while in case she changed her mind). Setup and pickup was quick and easy as the salon itself is already beautiful and the main event (hair styling) is all ready to go. 10/10 recommend for birthdays. The foot massage was a grandma. Not...
