Ocean State Job Lot — Local services in Sparta Township

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT THIS STORE! IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN HERE, STAY HOME AND DON'T WASTE THE TRIP !!!!!! Today was my first visit to the store, and I cannot even begin to express my disappointment. First of all, the store is dirty. The items for sale are dirty, outdated, over-priced, and even USED. Everything is very disorganized. The employees are rude. I was in the store for over an hour browsing and had to use the ladies room - one unisex bathroom that needed to be unlocked by a store employee to enter. So, I had to find someone to unlock the door. After I'm inside no more than 90 seconds, another MALE employee comes whipping the bathroom door open, after my friend (who was standing right outside the door waiting for me) told the man that someone was in there. He ignored my friend and opened the door anyway, even after I had yelled to the man not to open the door. I could not believe the blatant disregard for my privacy! My friend purchased one item, and at the checkout, a young male cashier was wondering if I was going to pay for my own coat! I was astonished! I tried to explain that it was 20 degrees outside and that I was wearing a coat when I came into the store - not to mention, the store doesn't even sell coats that are as nice or expensive as mine! I'd go 4.5 if there were half stars. I've grown to like the place. I'm newly back in this area so had never been to or heard of Ocean State. On my initial visit it seemed a little jumbled with an odd stock of stuff that wasn't priced all that well. And while that's mostly still true, what I've found since is there are certain good deals lurking if you look for them, and the people are nice so that's good. I've gotten really good deals on grass seed, tulip bulbs, copper infused socks and knee sleeves, and a clay towel I use for auto detailing, among other things.

Big parking lot makes for easy in and out. And if you join the club, which is free, you'll find additional special deals that usually makes the trip worth it.

Awful store. Merchandise is random, cheap and unorganized. Store associates are not at all friendly or helpful. Went in here quickly today for a pool float and brought my small dog inside since we are in the middle of a heat wave. I wasn’t in the store more than 5 minutes when an older woman associate came over and told me there are no dogs allowed. My dog was in a cart, not disturbing or interfering with anyone and laying down. Frustrating since I checked online prior and read that pets were allowed in this store. I will take my business elsewhere. It’s one thing to not be pet friendly ( which stinks when you have a large pet supply section) but it’s also how you communicate.
