Police involved and she got a free $125 out of me. Deposit was $25 ! Wanted to leave this review for the ones thinking about going here. I have been a loyal customer of Elegance African Braiding for 4 years now. I have recommended others to go here over the years because I like their work. The owner (Essie) is the only one I use to book with to do my braids because I love her work. So I went to her on a Friday my appointment time was for 12 I was on time I waiting in her sitting area for 1 hour. I went to my car and I sent her a text because she was talking and I didn’t want to be rude by interrupting and I asked if she was available tomorrow because I had a football game to attend and I had a good distance to travel for the game. She text back and said she’s not working that next day and I replied back asking will something be taking off of the total cause I waited over a hour and she never responded. At the point it’s like 1:15 I go back in sit a couple more minutes then she finally call me over to start on me. Fast forward she gets done I look in the mirror and it’s not what I showed her so I let her know that. Remind y’all all through this whole situation I was NEVER rude to her or got loud or none of that. So I told her it’s not what I asked for and that it wasn’t like the picture. Showed her the pictures again and she lied in my face telling me that the picture looks like 6 braids instead of 8. She told me I should’ve sent a video instead of pictures but without the video you can clearly see it’s 8 braids. So I’m thinking she would immediately start cutting the braids out being that she made a mistake…NOPE !!! she told me what I owed her and she started cleaning and sweeping up her area. So at this point I’m sitting there looking stupid and I spoke up and told her I don’t feel comfortable with paying her the full $125 being it’s not what I asked for and she said that I should’ve told her how I wanted it after I had sent pictures prior and after I got in the chair showed them again. At this point I showed them to her again. I asked when could she fix it she told me that she had to go pick up her child at 3:45 that same day. And couldn’t fix it the next day either because she don’t work Saturday so she said Monday so I asked Monday morning she said no Monday evening I said I have to be to work at 6 that night and asked will it be enough time she said “no you won’t have enough time.” And continued to clean. So she really wasn’t trying to arrange nothing with me to fix her mistake. And she also told me she will charge me an extra $20 when I come back to get it fixed for her to add the 2 braids that she left out. So now we going back and forth. I told her I have $80 for her because she didn’t do what I asked, I waited a whole hour for her to start, and also she not trying to fix my hair…she was very inconsiderate. She told me “if I didn’t have the money to pay that she didn’t mind helping me out and that I can’t come in her shop and tell her I’m giving her $80”….at this point I’m confused because idk why she was saying that because I have always paid her never asked her for any favors. And she also kept yelling “you been coming to me for a long time” and idk why she was saying that either because that was irrelevant as well. She was yelling and moving her hands and I’m still calm. She ran to locked me in her shop and told the others to call the POLICE and I said that was fine because she was in the wrong. Fast forward the police came and of course they were on her side and I told him that she was not trying to work anything out with me or make no arrangements with me. He said “ rather she works out arrangements with you or not you still have to pay her” so I paid her the $20. The whole 4 years Me and Essie had never had a disagreement or any of that which is my reason for being shocked that she didn’t value me as a loyal customer. Essie You knew that you were wrong because you refuse to look at the pictures on my phone !! Essie you shouldn’t do things like that as a business owner, that karma is 10x...

If I could zero stars, I WOULD!

I came to this salon to get my hair done and I had an awful experience. The lady who did my hair came with her baby. She started my hair and twice she had to stop to care for her young baby who looked to be about 7-8 months old. She spoke on the phone the entire time!! At first, this was not an issue until I realized she did not pay attention to what I told her I wanted. I had to show her the picture of my hairstyle 4 times!! Then to make matters worse, she then told me she have to leave to take her baby to her sister’s house because he was cranky. I had to sit for half hour for her to drop her kids off to her sister and come back.

Now, I am also a mother and I completely understand how hard it can be to get a sitter. However, this woman was NOT prepared to work and it was a huge inconvenience to me and my family. This was the worst situation I have ever experienced. It was very unprofessional and I NEVER go back to this salon.

I am tired of stylists taking advantage of their clients. They require much of their clients, to make a deposit, be on time, and all of these rules and regulations for their inconvenience but they do NOT offer anything when they waste their clients time!

I wanted knotless braids. I wanted them natural looking and they even let me choose a braid size from a hook thing that has 5 different sizes of braids on there. I chose a medium small size and when she got done doing my hair, they were so big looking but. The back was the size I asked for. I would not recommend going there for a tender headed person. Plus she was on her phone a lot instead of braiding my hair. I could have been out of there quicker if she was not on her phone . I sent her a picture of the style as well and it did not look like the style . And the price was just ridiculous. I brought my own hair and still paid $200 for something that I didn’t even like and now my edges are coming out because she did the parts small and the braids wayyyyy too big. I also had to take a couple of braids out because they were about to snap off . And this was a week after I got my head done . I even went back because the of the size difference the very next day but she thought I was talking about just the front . Every time I bend down the hair just gets in my face and it’s so annoying and my ends are horrible but I tipped her because I like to support but this is not it and I won’t...
