update to my review: today was the 2nd to last week of class. I got a text 2 hours before class started saying “kind reminder your dance class will be held at the sawdust location”….. that’s not necessarily a reminder when that’s the first i’m hearing of it. never received a phone call, text or update in the portal prior to this regarding the class location changing. THEN come to find out the class was actually cancelled and not even at the other location. so frustrating and unprofessional!
my daughter is enrolled in the pre-ballet/tap class (I believe for the 2-4ish year age group). we chose this place because it was one of the only places in the area that had non morning classes for this age and also a non-mommy and me option.
when signing up, I paid for first month (prorated because we started with 1 week left in the month) and last month + the registration fee. however, for the last month of class I was still charged the monthly class fee. I called and spoke to someone about why I was charged and she explained it was an “all inclusive” set amount for the recital costume, tickets, trophy, etc. but I told her we were in a non-recital class and she just said it was a set amount again. I asked for a better explanation because I was a bit confused on what that means since my daughter is not in a recital class but she could not give me one. I still don’t understand why I was charged May 1st if I paid for the last month of class already when signing up. The class ends the first week of June now supposedly because of something to do with the recital, and the lady on the phone informed me I would not be charged again and that I was done paying, but was that the “last month of class fee” I paid when signing up for literally 1 class in June - which is the same amount i’ve been paying for full months? if so, that’s insane. overall, this “last month of the season tuition” I was initially charged for when signing up is very misleading whatever the explanation may be considering I have now been charged again.
I don’t believe the first instructor was the best fit for this age group. she would show what she wanted them to do but was never hands on, so they ended up running around the entire time. even during 1:1 sessions because nobody else was in the class for a period of time it was not very hands on.
the second instructor is amazing with this age group, but all of a sudden the class turned into a “mommy and me” class. this was not what we signed up for and made things difficult since I had my other child with me who is an infant. as previously mentioned, we signed up for ballet/tap class and they do not do tap with this instructor. i’ve brought up multiple times this is not a mommy and me class and that my daughter enjoys doing tap dances, but there are only 2 kids in this class (my daughter and another child her age) and the instructor told me that this age group is too young for a non-mommy and me class and to be doing tap. I definitely understand where she is coming from, but that’s not what we signed up for. another child was in this class as well, but they dropped for this exact reason. a few months ago we also showed up for class and were informed we were “15 minutes late” because turns out class had been moved to an earlier time and I never received any notice of this.
I called to try and give my 1 month notice to remove my daughter from the class because I felt we could spend our time/money elsewhere and this was not what we signed up for. I was informed it was too late because classes end at the beginning of June anyways. the turn over rate for this class: there being 1 or if anything no other children in this class and the amount of people who come for a trial and never return should’ve been my first red flag. we have a few weeks to go, and we will make the best of it but I don’t appreciate the inconsistency and the lack communication from the people I talk with...
Read moreCommunication and customer service needs serious improvement. I’m out $150 for tickets for a recital that my daughter is not allowed to dance in. For a month I had been trying to withdraw my daughter (for financial reasons) assuming she would be able to still dance in the holiday recital thinking since I paid first and last month, Dec would’ve been her last month. Due to a technicality it wouldn’t. Ok, I’ll eat that cost since I signed whatever terms. But refund me the $150 for the tickets that others are getting for free! I spoke to another mom in my daughter’s class and she is getting two free tickets and additional are $10-20. What?! Why was I charged that amount? If someone would have returned my calls I would have known that she wouldn’t have been able to dance in the recital and I wouldn’t have bought those tickets. I had left messages, emails, and texts (there’s never anyone ant the front desk) and it took a month for them to reply. The girl was snobby when I asked to talk to someone above her. She said she would relay the message to her director. Yea right. I wonder if the director even knows about my situation and if she does, terrible. So disappointing, I liked taking my daughter to the WCC location and hoped to return in the summer but not if I run the risk of being treated...
