Omega Grill you have a new hardcore fan!
Food was awesome and beautiful. I normally don't notice food presentation but when it looks this pretty I notice. The service was impeccable. The restaurant is wide open, which I like, very clean and well lit. Since I'm not an interior decorator, I don't know how to describe the decor other than I loved it. It felt like a homey, industrial vibe. The light fixtures are gorgeous and I want them in my house, as well as the burnt wood beams and the brownstone bricks.
The Hub had the blackened catfish with smoked gouda grits and added on blackened shrimp for good measure. I had the chicken pot pie which came with a garden salad. We shared an appetizer recommended by our waiter, Mackenzie (more on him later} captain crunch chicken tenders with honey mustard. I know. Sounds weird. In Mackenzie's own words "trust me". We did trust him and are SO glad we did! They are fabulous! There is just a tiny bit of sweetness and that goes so well with the savory chicken and is made even better with the honey mustard dressing which leans more savory than sweet and is without question the best honey mustard I've ever had. We also tried it with the jalapeño cream gravy and we like both sauces so much we couldn't make up our minds which to use, so we dipped them in both sauces at the same time, which was also great! Just FYI if you are picante-shy like I am, don't worry the jalapeño cream gravy has the jalapeño flavor without the stinging heat. The chicken pot pie was creamy, thick and full of chicken and veggies. It hit every comfort note I needed. The Hub didn't say much about the catfish, shrimp and grits which means he loved them. To quote him "busy eating, can't answer your questions" so I snuck some of his grits. Oh my, salty, savory, smokey, creamy goodness yum! However, that was all I could sneak by him, so next time I'm going to get my own because it looked amazing and the chef shaped the catfish and shrimp into a scorpion. Mad props to you!
The service, I don't know how you got to be the young man that you are Mackenzie, but we adore you! He took the time to explain the food to us and answer all my questions (ask the Hub, that alone qualifies Mackenzie for sainthood). He was kind and patient and listened. He made spot on recommendations for us and he even noticed that we had not been there ever before. He was a hard worker and was there whenever we needed him without being over-bearing or making us feel rushed. He will always be our go to server, but the other servers were equally attentive and kind, so I don't think you can go wrong here no matter what server you get. Nor do I think you can go wrong on the food, based on what we had, they take there food seriously and it shows in the...
Read moreTucked in a strip mall near 45 Feeder and Sawdust, the Omega Grille is easy to get to, with plenty of parking and a pleasant atmosphere. Sawyer greeted me the minute I walked in at about 1:30 PM on a Thursday afternoon. I motioned that there was only one in my party and she advised I could sit wherever I like. There were probably four or five groups of people in the restaurant dining. I sat down and promptly ordered the fried zucchini, which was why I came in. When Sawyer advised that they did not have that on their menu, I corrected her saying that I just saw it on the menu from my car. She responded with a cheerful smile, “Oh, that would be the Olive Oil, just a couple doors down. Same owners, different restaurant.” Since I was here already, I ordered the tomato basil soup, and if she hadn’t come to take my empty bowl, I would’ve been licking it clean. It was that good. The croutons were perfect. The shaved Parmesan melted into the soup and provided an appropriate number of strings expected when cheese is added to hot soup. As I prepared to pay for my $6 of savory deliciousness and readied myself to walk down to the originally intended destination for fried zucchini, I stopped a couple of gals leaving and asked one if what I saw her dipping into her soup was the Rueben. “Oh, no”, she replied enthusiastically, “I always get the same thing; the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup”, pointing to the menu still on my table. She described what she had just eaten with joy, adding that “It’s the best grilled cheese ever; very special; they add sliced avocado to it.” Her dining companion continued, “I always get the Greek salad and it’s a hit every time. The chicken pot pie is great too!” Well, I couldn’t leave now, but I really wasn’t hungry enough for another appetizer or certainly not an entrée so I asked about the Italian Cream Cake. The response in unison; “Oh, you’ll come back just for their cake!” And I will. The homemade whipped cream on the sides contained a candied pecan and I could have made a dessert of that by itself. George, one of the owners, (with his sister) stopped by my table to say hello and told me they’ve been there about 10 years and that his parents own the Olive Oil a few doors down. He suggested I try the “Sugar Cookie Peach Cobbler” next time and I will, because there WILL be a next time. I still haven’t made it to The Olive Oil for my fried zucchini, but I’ve got a feeling I won’t be...

Good reviews and an interesting menu peeked our curiosity. We were a little concerned when we arrived at dinner time and only one other table was occupied. It didn't take long to dispell this. The server, Chandler, was an expert with the menu, and you were excited after hearing him discuss the great menu choices and the fact that everything is made from scratch and nothing is ever frozen. We started with the fried mushrooms. The portion size was large, and the mushrooms were absolutely perfect. Thin crispy breading and tender, juicy mushrooms. The flavor of the mushrooms was balanced right with the breading so that each was equally enjoyed. Diane had the Omega chicken. Chicken breast in a panko parmesan breading with a brown butter sauce, garlic, basil, shallots, capers, and tomatoes. She opted for the gouda grits instead of mashed potatoes and finished with grean beans. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy. The breading and sauce were fantastic. The grits and grean bean just rounded out the meal in good fashion. I had the chicken fried chicken with creamy jalapeño gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, and Texas toast. I liked the fact that they brought the gravy out in a server. This keeps the breading crispy as long as possible. Once again, the chicken was perfect, and the breading was crispy. The gravy had a subtle jalapeño taste that was just right and a small hint of heat. The mashed potatoes were as great as everything else, and the Texas toast was the best I've had in a long while. We ordered a piece of carrot cake to take with us to enjoy in the hotel. The cake was just as awesome as all the other food. Overall, this was one of the best meals I've had in some time. There was not one item that was not done correctly. Highly recommended two...
