We are going tonight. I'll update my review afterwards. But I'm giving 5 stats for an engaged business owner who clearly reads their online reviews and responds to them. It means they care about their customers and take pride in their food and service. I expect my wife and I to have a great dinner.
UPDATE: Our dinner was FABULOUS. We have been Benihana regulars and this place is by far better! Among the highlights:
Dinner at Benihana is usually a 2+ hour affair. We were not rushed at all at Kobe - the service was simply faster. Took about an hour. At Benihana you wait FOREVER for your chef to arrive.
The service was tops. We had prompt taking of our order, drink refills, and anything else we needed.
The quality was as good or better than anywhere else. Notably we ordered a vegetable tempura. Benihana's appear to be leftover or undesirable veggies. Kobe's were top tier and cooked perfectly.
Our table chef did excellent. At other places we have noted they cook items in an order that doesn't make sense. Our chef started the chicken first but then cooked shrimp and other fast cooking items while longer cooking items like chicken finished. This resulted in more people at the table getting their food quickly and kept food on everyone's plate. My wife is a shrimp eater and at other hibachi places she is left with an empty plate until last since shrimp cook fast.
Flavor - ingredients and seasoning were great. But we did note the food was salted a tiny bit too much. My recommendation for the owner: lower the salt content - patrons can always add salt. The mustard sauce was a good bit too salty and could be creamier with a hint more mustard. That's precious little to complain about tho! Everything else was really spot on.
Price. Our meal for two, with two mixed drinks, came in around $80. And we ordered what are usually "premium" dishes like seafood and filet instead of stand strip steak. Still thats a little less than what we pay elsewhere.
The restaurant wasn't quite as "fancy" as Benihana. But hey - we went for a great meal and great service and that's what we got. If you aren't considering this place from what it looks like on the outside, you are missing out.
But don't everyone pile on. We still want to be able to get a table on Friday and Saturday...
Read moreI wanted to say Thanks to the Staff at Kobe for a better night for my 46th. Initially my Family and I went to Benihana (but after 30 minutes of no service after being seated) this was our mistake; so we left Benihana and came to Kobe. Kobe was a much better choice by far. As soon as we were seated, the Staff took our drink orders. Upon the drinks arrival, we placed our dinner order. Kobe's Staff did a much better job then Benihana (read my review below). Kobe's atmosphere was bright and attentive which made my Family's night. Kobe and Kobe Staff, Thank you for everything. My Family and Friends and I will definitely return!!!
Below is a copy my review to Benihana for all to read: **On 10-10-23, my Family and I went here around 1730 to eat dinner for my 46th. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately which was awesome, but then it went sideways to say the least. Another family arrived to the table which was fine. However, after 20 to 30 minutes roll by and NO staff at all came by to even ask everyone at our hibachi table on what beverage we would like. The place wasn't even busy. Our table was one of four tables that had guest; the rest of the place was empty, so there shouldn't have been any issues; but this wasn't our case. My family and I were done at this point. We all stood up and left. The Hostess only then informed the on-duty Manager that Five Guest were leaving. The Manager did run out to the parking lot to ask what happened. I advised her of the lack of service which left a bad taste (so to speak) about how terrible it is to have to wait for almost 30 minutes just for drinks let alone be able to order any food. The Manager did apologizes and offered coupon vouchers but I advised that still wouldn't fix the problems. I can recall that Benihana used to be the place many would want to go eat at and it was hard-pressed to get in; but last night proved me wrong and my family. Needless to say, we took our business to Kobe (on Rayford) and had much...
Read moreWe had a family birthday Monday night. Been using Kobe for family birthdays for 10ish years maybe? ,and was always pleased. This time, we had to leave. Service went from the normal 5 rating, to a 1. We knew as manager explained, that there were not enough cooks, so they could not cook in front of us. Understand that this could happen, we didn't have reservation. Disappointment, but understandable. Sat us, and I asked waiter if we could at least have a discount, bc of no show, which is a lot of why we go bc of the kids. That's the highlight and my 3 grands were disappointed. We were party of 9. Waiter couldn't answer, so asked for manager. Explained to him, said he couldn't do anything. So ordered drinks(2 beers, glass of wine, 1 martini), couple appetizers, and the main course food trying to make best of things. Got those, salad, soup. Then food comes. Mostly we ordered Seafood, and it has no warmth at all! Room temp to cold! Sent back. Waiter starts acting rude at that point, so call manager back. Say I just want my bill for all but main course. Manager sends bill with no comp at all. Call him back and he takes off just $20 from the orig $75. Asked for his boss number bc he,and waiter both horrible at even attempting any form of customer service and he wouldnt provide. Just said call wednesday and they may be in. Said his boss was the owner. Done with Kobes! We did birthdays there for years at usually $250ish each time. Several birthdays in a year. No more! Gonna...
