Texas is the home of BBQ! These folks must be from California. This was a true pride swallowing meal here folks. I had never been here and no one recommended it. I found them close by to where I was staying for business and needed something tried and true in the great state of Texas (Texas BBQ) that should have been simply put.... Cooked meats nice and slow with some great smoky flavor. On line they showed up while searching the area for options and they had a 4.2. How that happened just goes to show you some of these business go in and rate themselves just to get those numbers up.
It's pretty easy if you live here to find some really good BBQ heck on some weekends around town you'll find many a neighbor smoking down some TX-BBQ and honestly all of those are going to be better than the slop served here. It was a true waste of $12.50 from start to finish.
Where to start... I had some two meat BBQ sandwich. Meat 1 brisket was drenched in sauce to mask any flavors that may have or should have been naturally reoccurring. They were squared off chunks of meat (I think it was meat or at least hard sauce cubes) soaked in some east coast vinegar based drool. MEAT 2 was sausage. Now I could tell this was sausage folks no doubt there I'm sure of it. Couldn't taste it with all the sauce. Now they threw a few onion rings on there for good measure, some more sauce (just to say hey here's more sauce) and then folks they topped it all off with the piece de resistance.. . One slice of proccessed yellow squared up straight out the old plastic wrapper yellow cheese! Bammmmm!
Let's not forget they put all that on a niece Kroger hamburger roll (with sesame seeds... They splurged ) and then they allow folks to dig into it.
Folks if you come across this place don't do it. Drive by and keep going without...
Read moreI was a little disappointed in this place. Overly priced in my opinion. The entrees I guess were ok in price. The chopped brisket sandwich was delicious, can't speak on behalf of the bf who got the pulled pork one. I took a bite, but didn't really like it, but i prefer brisket so that isn't a fair review. You may like it if you are a pork lover. The sauce however in the bottle is the same sauce on the sandwich but room temperature. It was not good unless hot so ask for it HOT not from the bottle. It tasted off in the bottle. The appetizer we got was the jalapeno poppers and they were $9.00. I was thinking we'd get some off the wall bomb digidy melt in your mouth jalapeno poppers for $9.00. That is expensive for an appetizer. But no they were horrible. 1/2 of them were burnt, and the other 1/2 just tasted like they got them out of a TGIF box from walmart and threw them in the fryer. I suggest not getting these if you go here. The only reason I gave them a 3 stars review was because the sandwich I had and potato salad (which is def not your average potato salad, it grew on me after awhile) was because she didn't charge me for the jalapeno poppers. So 3 stars. They should really focus on cutting their prices back a little and I'm sure they'd make more business that way! All and all not a horrible place if you have about $25 for two entrees, two drinks and room for a tip. I will have to post a pic later. I did take pictures so people didn't think I was full of sh**. I like giving...
Read moreWas looking for a good bbq place following a long and frustrating drive to/from League City on that miserable highway, I-45. Tried to get to a couple of restaurants in Houston; however the crowds and lack of parking dissuaded. Googled and found Pitmaster BBQ off Sawdust Rd, just west of I-45. The place is smack-dab in the middle of a large strip mall, just east of Budde Rd. Walked in around 7:15 PM, the restaurant closes at 8:00 PM; hardly anyone around at the time. We’re greeted warmly by Cassidy at the front door - sat in the covered patio area, very pleasant on a typical Oct evening. Cassidy was extremely friendly and attentive - ordered the sausage/brisket/ribs combo platter for $22, together with Fried Okra and Baked Beans as sides. In addition, ordered Jalapeño poppers and Onion Rings as appetizers. Food arrived very quickly, and was it delicious! The meats were well-smoked and fall-off-bone tender, the spicy sausage was perfectly cooked. Sides were not at all greasy - very tasty. Texas toast accompanied the platter. Rounded off the fine meal with Blueberry Cobbler and Pecan Pie to go. Nice touch that the owner came and checked on us, in addition to Cassidy’s excellent attention. The meal was plentiful and cost $69 for two, including 20% tip. Overall, very satisfying - recommend this hidden gem if you like a quiet, well-attended...
