I love this Michaels. This location is clean, isles are labeled and well stocked, and, earlier today, I got to experience the very last service they'd had left to offer that I hadn't tried yet and it was great! The selection at this location is wonderful, albeit less extensive and sometimes more expensive than hobby lobby, but you can find many items here that you can't find at hobby lobby and many times, you can find those items on sale! I'm a hobby artist and this is usually where I get my canvas from. It's difficult to trust pre-stapled canvas through the mail, especially on those larger sizes but, every so often, Michaels has you covered with a buy one get two free offers! You just gotta keep your eyes peeled for it because on those larger canvases it really makes a difference.
However, what really prompted my review was this final section that I had yet to experience until earlier today.
The custom framing section. I came in with paintings in 20+ year old frames and mats just hoping I wouldn't be taken to the cleaners for such a wreck. Well, grasping my beloved paintings and apprehensively walking to the framing section, I met Peter, one of this locations custom framers. I was met with a friendly smile and a ready-to-do attitude! This man skips over the bull; he demonstrated that he doesn't just tell you what he thinks you want to hear. He's there to help you in the best way he possibly can because he takes his craft seriously and with pride which, as a fellow artist, I appreciate immensely. Peter even has some of his own framing work on display for purchase. Peter took the time to talk to me about what I could do, what I could expect, and alternatives to the project I had come in with and I couldn't be more thankful. I was so very impressed with this person and, tbh, it made me proud of this Michaels, in particular. Peter made me feel like my needs were important and he did his very best to help me out. Thank you, Michael's, and...
Read moreThis Michaels is really poor at taking down sale signs and updating their database (unless this is done nationally). You can see something on sale and take it up to the till only to be told it isn't on sale anymore or that doesn't qualify for the particular coupon or discount. The one clerk at the till named Ellie is particularly nasty like the money on any sale item is coming out of her paycheck. She belittles the customers, and me to the point that I avoid her till line (I will wait behind 3 customers at another line even if her line is empty). I even mentioned to another sales associate today that I am afraid of Ellie and she said to call her if I had a problem....I managed to go through another line and avoid Ellie. If I could get my particular yarn somewhere else I would not go to Michaels. I find their prices substantially higher than other craft or...
Read moreA year ago one of the best managers this store had, left. This week I find out the evening manager who always went out of her way to help me find what I was looking for and more is now gone. For years she helped me with ideas for kids parties and creativity class . Michael’s I hope you get some better training for the day managers you have now. Teach them manners, and especially how to speak to customer without the rudeness. Never failed the assistant manager is always in a bad mood and the store manager always gone for the day. This was also another reason I would only go in the evenings. Seems like this location lets the good ones go and keep the ones that don’t care to do their job right! Ill be shopping at Grand Parkway, found out that’s were the old manager went, with the hopes that the manager that left is also...
