My husband and I decided to use Home Depot to install our front door. We went into the store and talked to an associate who assured my husband that the times are flexible for the measurement. The hours ended up not being flexible, but the person did make an exception to come out on a Saturday. The person that showed up for the measuring told my husband he would need to reschedule because he needs tools to take an accurate measurement. Stated our front door that was in our house wasn't a normal placement. That basically the frame was built up so he would need to take it apart to get an accurate measurement. This was the first sign of this going downhill, since when do professionals that come out to take a measurement on a door not bring tools with them? Why didn't the guy go get tools and come back to perform the measurement since it was his error? We had already waited three weeks by this time to get this measurement. We were told we would get a call to reschedule the appointment. My husband called after several days of not hearing anything. He got the run around. So we waited several more days by this time it was a week after the guy came out to give the measurement and the measuring still wasn't rescheduled. I called Home Depot and talked to a customer service representative, Maria, who was the only shining light in this whole experience. She assured me she would have someone call us back. A representative from the Millworks department called and Left us a message that our installation was under review, and that someone would call us back by the end of the next day. The next day my husband took a call from them saying they were declining installing our door basically because it was too complex. That they would refund us our deposit of $40. They even mentioned part of the reason they were declining it was because of the floor that we had in our foyer area and they were afraid they would damage it when they put the door in. My husband assured them he could lift the floor up(since he is the one who placed it) that it wasn't a big deal since the foyer is a very small area. Long story short it seems like Home Depot cherry picks the easy jobs and decline the difficult ones. If the contractor who came out to do the measurement didn't want to do the job then why didn't he just tell us that when he came out for the initial measurement. Do the contractors from Home Depot not have any experience? Because I can't imagine all doors are straight forward. This was a horrible experience and a waste of time. Their lack of communication and professionalism surprised me. I would recommend going somewhere else to have your...
Read moreSo I know everyone is aware of the shortage on any supplies currently due to this pandemic. Over the last week I have went to 13 different stores looking for toilet paper & have been unsuccessful. I am a healthcare worker, so I have been putting in more hours than usual. This past Sunday (my only day off last week) I did more hunting and was still unable to find one single roll, with only having one roll left at home. I have not had the ability to be at stores before the doors open due to my work schedule. My mother (whom lives in Michigan, along with all my other Friends / family, over 500 miles away from me) started calling stores yesterday morning in the York area to see if anyone would place a pack of toilet paper on hold for me to pick up. She called home depot on east market street and happened to get the assistant manager (Kirby). She told her my situation & Kirby told my mom that she had extra at home, gave my mom her personal phone number and told her to have me text her and she would give it to me. Last night after work I texted her & we met. She gave me two packs of toilet paper & refused to take my money for it. It was a total "pay it forward" moment and felt like a miracle for something so silly, toilet paper... She gave me hope that there are still good people out there that care about others and has a heart of gold. She said to me " I'm Just putting the energy I'd like to receive back into the world". I will NEVER forget this moment or Kirby. I cannot express the amount of stress she relieved from me over something so simple as toilet paper. Just because I did not have a direct situation in the store with her, does not mean that it does not deserve to be recognized by home depot, because it does. That just shows that you have the right person fulfilling her assistant manager roll & exceeding the expectation. Exceeding good customer service to the community. She deserves to be recognized because I will forever tell this story and cannot express the amount of appreciation I have for her & what she did for me. Also, I would like to add, anyone reading this I hope this is an eye opener to care for others. Even if you do not know them, do not be selfish. Only buy what you need, especially around a time like this. Think about others. It could be anyone out there that is suffering all because one, two or three individuals decided to buy WAY more than they...
Read moreI wanted to share my most recent experience with this store. At the end of March, I purchased a stove for my daughter. The stove was never unpacked or hooked up. It is exactly how the delivery people left it. My daughter and her husband were remodeling their house. The week after Easter they had personal issue occur that is forcing them to sell their house. Today, I called the store and spoke to Bethann. She handles after purchase service on their appliances. I knew it was a long shot, but I asked if they could take the stove back. I expected the answer to be no, so I also stated that I would be thrilled to exchange the gas one for an electric one. I didn't know anyone that could use a gas stove but I could give an electric one to my mother-in-law. Bethann said she needed to consult with the manager on duty and she would give me a call back shortly. About fifteen minutes later she called me back and said the manager would be willing to take it back. She is arranging for someone at the store to go and pickup the stove. I was amazed that this wonderful woman was able to make this happen. She said they would refund me when they had it back in the store. She saw that I had paid cash for most of it. Because it was in my daughters name, Bethann said she would need to be there to receive the cash. I told her that she wasn't able to be there because she was in a facility in Harrisburg and wasn't able to come home at the moment. Bethann understood and said she would make this as easy as possible for me. She then told me she could tell I was going through a difficult time and that she was going to pray for me tonight. I started to cry and thanked her. Her kindness has reinforced in me the feeling that there really are good people in this world who will help you in your time of need. Thank you again to Bethann and the manager on duty. Your kindness and heart warming care has been a blessing that I hope returns to you if ever you...
