This was a bittersweet trip for me as I haven’t been here in over 15 years. The actual area with games and rides is significantly smaller now which is a bummer. Most of the building seems dedicated to a large party seating area with a small light up dance floor towards the back. They also removed almost all of the old games I remembered as well as the jungle gym to my dismay. The food is pretty expensive for the average quality but I will say the pizza wasn’t bad at all. The staff however was very friendly and helpful, they even had a surprise appearance from Chuck E. Cheese himself waving to the kids. Alas I do have to say I was very disappointed in the games and that section as a whole. I wanted to give my daughter the experience my dad gave me when he brought me there in the early 2000s and I want take able to do so. A lot of the games were not even in working condition and others didn’t work properly but still accepted your payment. The games that did work just didn’t seem too fun or paid out barely any tickets at all. The hand full of old machines from before the renovations were a trip to play but even they were failing. I’m thankful I was able to at least play some ski-ball like I did as a kid and I would call that a saving grace for the review but unfortunately only 2/4 were working properly. I should also mention that they do still have the old sketch photo booth ride too, that was a genuine relief to see it still working. I took that opportunity to create some memories with my family and get a picture for a souvenir like I remember fondly from my childhood. The coins and literal paper tickets are gone now too but that’s not necessarily a negative, more of a nostalgia thing. The new point/ticket/coin system is identical to Dave & Busters where it’s all on a card significantly more efficient even though I’ll miss searching for lost coins under the machines. As for the very end of the visit the ticket cash out and prize picking, well…. that was severely lacking too. The selection of prizes is horrible and the ticket amounts needed to get anything “good” is insane especially compared to how awful the payout is on the games. Half of the items on the prize wall had real dollar price tags and weren’t even earn-able with tickets (points) at all. It’s pretty straightforward that they want you to spend a lot of money or just flat buy something off the wall. In conclusion, this is certainly not the place I used to come as a kid with my dad but change is inevitable these days. The staff, the pizza, the photo booth, and the 2 working ski-ball machines were the only positives. I’m not saying I won’t be returning but if the only things worth coming here for are a few friendly staff members, some pizza, and a sub some old barely working games from the 2000s then I’m probably going to pass. All in all, I’d give it a 3/10. I wouldn’t really recommend coming to this...
Read moreOk, hear me out. My wife & I went to this place not expecting a 5 star restaurant experience. For what its worth, we wanted to see how different the place was since our children were little, but mostly wanted a slice of that classic 80's-style (greasy) pizza! Admittedly, the pizza was different but the same. It still had the wonderful taste and oil atop it, but ole Charles Entertainment Cheese decided to add a little brushed carlic butter to the super thin crust. Was it better? Yes & no. Taste-wise it was way more appealing to our adult pallet, but not exactly the childhood taste we were looking for. This wasn't bad by any stetch, in many ways better, but I guess just unexpected. This Chuck E Cheese location was one of the cleanest & quietest we've ever visited. I can remember, when the children were little, hordes of screaming children with bright lights and loud sounds at every corner. This place was full of well behaved children enjoying some family time with which parent or parents took them. The only reason this location didn't knock it out of the park was 2 reasons, which I'm sure is some corporate policy to make money. The pizza took a little longer than most places to arrive. Not absurdly long, but maybe 10-15 minutes longer than say your run-of-the-mill Dominos or Pizza Hut. This leads me to the second reason. Pizzas probably come later to force parents to shell out money on cards or wristbands to play the games. That's not a bad thing, but as I remember, when we would get food for the kids when they were little they came with X amount of tokens, based off of your purchase. Those golden tokens, like so many good things of the past, are gone. And like all modern businesses prices are up. Still C.E.C., and this place in particular, is worth a trip if you want to spend some time with the kiddo(s) or enjoy a really good slice of pizza. And yes, they still cut them in super...
Read moreKids wanted a day of fun like they remember before covid. York was the only location near us that was open. It is small! Not as many games, no tubes to climb through, no animatronics just a boring basic white area in the back with some TV's that show Chuck E. Cheese. No ticket booth for the birthday kid to climb inside to rake in the tickets. The absolute worse part was the staff, they have checked out and obviously hate their jobs. Tables are rare because of covid, we managed to find one but it had someone else's left over food on it. The employee cleared the food and left, we stood there waiting for her to come back and sanitize the area, after about 8 minutes I went to look for someone. I found another employee standing around behind the counter and asked if someone could sanitize our table. He spoke into his microphone and low and behold, the same girl who cleared the table stopped in the back area and gave me a dirty look. He told me I could wait for the other tables in the back, I just stood there by my table and eventually he came over and cleaned it. When the picture booth ran out of paper I asked if they could please refill it, the girl said "someone will be over", no one ever came 🤷♀️ I get it, it's probably hard to work there and love your job, but come on! My family spent $98 and we just wanted a little fun, I'd rather go anywhere but there with my kids and my money. It just wasn't worth the lack of...
