I grew up in York and remember the driving range before the mall was built, along with those who fought against the mall. Before the Galleria, the best mall was the York Mall until the stores either left or went bankrupt (leaving only the hideous Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, and a few other stores in between).
I worked in the seasonal Halloween Adventure store for four years in the York Galleria. After I left that company for good I realized how much I liked working in the mall. The atmosphere is nice and there were so many options for shopping and eating before or after work, or even during break. Stores come and go...some you miss, some you don't. The Galleria does seem to have more jewelry stores than anything, however there are many stores I like scattered throughout. The mall isn't huge, and that is why I like it -- it's just the right size. Going to Park City Mall in Lancaster is just too irritating for me to do an actual shopping trip: by the time I get to the second store way across the strange layout, I've lost any interest in what I'm looking for and am ready to leave. The York Galleria is nice and compact in size, making shopping much more fun. Now that I live in Lebanon I really miss the York...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI grew up with this mall and am happy it's still around. It's not as busy as it once was, but it seems to be doing okay overall. I'm happy they never remodeled, I LOVE the interior design with the neon and pastel colors. You can tell this mall opened in 1989 just by looking at it. Never lose this style! Shops do change around so often, they are trying. The food court isnt what it once was. I don't know why McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Subway left. They were always busy. But they do have a pizza place (replaced Sbarro) and Bamboo Kitchen and Tokyo II are still there. And of course Auntie Anne's, which is something I always like to get while I'm here. Casino opened in 2021 where Sears was. Doesn't open into the mall though. Boscovs just got rid of their neon sadly. And former Bon-Ton is a storage facility. They have a new arcade here that's better than the Boardwalk one. It's Family Fun Center that moved from Harrisburg Malls after they closed a year ago. It's a great arcade and I'm happy it's here. This mall is always fun to visit. I hope for the best for this mall and glad it's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām from a bigger city with HUGE malls, so my review might be bias but- I wasn't completely dissatisfied with this place. There are some empty spaces, and no huge anchor stores. (Correction- BosCovs? And Marshallās I guess are the anchor stores). But overall, the place isnāt bad. Had your usual- hot topic, finish line, pink, etc. Parking was simple and plentiful. Food was typical mall fast food. (This is the first mall that Iāve seen with a McDonaldās and a Taco Bell inside. šš) The only reason I knocked off 2 stars is because of the god awful bathrooms. I only found one set of bathrooms (right by the food court) and theyāre in desperate need of renovations and more frequent cleanings. First two stalls completely disgusting, next stall I walked into didnāt lock properly, and then the third stalls door wasnāt closing. Ugh. It was a pain! But nonetheless, went 3 times in my 3 week stint in PA. And each time walked out spending too much! š©
Looks like at one time was a awesome mall, but a little outdated now. Regardless, Iād probably go back if I come back to...
