I have been a Cato's customer for YEARS. I have a credit card, I talked my mother, grandmother, two aunts and a few friends into also getting a credit card for Cato's as their clothes are always in style, the department is always clean and for the most part the staff is very friendly and helpful. HOWEVER....I had purchased some items from Cato's in Springfield OH to be exact there is 6 pieces of clothing that I purchased. I had taken these clothes back to the store as they no longer fit and I just wasn't a fan of them as I was in the store. After walking into the store the young lady did not great my grandmother nor myself as she just stood behind the counter the whole time. I brought my original bag and all items in for a return. I did NOT have my receipt HOWEVER the price tags were still on each piece of clothing and absolutely NOTHING wrong with any of these items as they never left the inside of the bag once I got home (remind you their clothes are not cheap) the associate proceeded to tell me she was unable to take these items back for a refund (understandable as I did not have my receipt) I than requested instore credit for these items and she would not honor instore credit. I requested to speak with a manager. She claimed there was no manager there at this time. I left my contact information at the store with this sales rep to be contacted. I never received a call, email NOTHING. I than wrote an email to the corporate office explaining this situation on March 25,2020, I received a voicemail from the General Manager the same day requesting I call her cell phone to discuss this situation. So I contact her, leave a voicemail and here it is three weeks later and I have not received a call back from the GM or an email.
I understand the fact of not being able to refund the money as I did not have my receipt. But for the associate to not even grant me instore credit nor give my contact information to anyone to get in touch with me is highly unacceptable.
I have never encountered such terrible service. I am now at the point where I will contact the BBB and there will be several people within my family/friends cancelling their credit cards for Cato's and finding else where to do our shopping. I'm very unhappy with the lack of communication and service I've received. Its rather disappointing that I will be wasting even more time writing these reviews and I will continue to take this up the chain until it is resolved to my...
Read moreMy name is Joyce, and while I don’t usually leave reviews, I felt this experience needed to be shared.
I stopped by the Cato store in Springfield and was really impressed at first — the store was clean, the clothes were lovely, and one of the young ladies working there was just a sweetheart. She was kind, helpful, and clearly trying her best to keep up with everything.
Unfortunately, the store manager completely ruined the experience. She was an older-looking, semi-tall woman with short brown hair. Instead of stepping in to help during a busy time, she sat in the back and never once came out — even when she needed assistance. The young associate had to apologize to me several times because the manager simply wouldn’t come up front. It was honestly uncomfortable watching her get overwhelmed while the manager, who clearly saw what was going on, did absolutely nothing.
The atmosphere was wonderful otherwise, but poor leadership like that reflects badly on the whole store. Cato needs...
