DXL Big + Tall — Local services in Springfield

I decided to write this review because of the rudeness of the staff, Sam, that we experienced both times we went to the store. It's weird that there are so many reviews praising the customer service here, but that was not how my two visits went. Most people claim to be met with friendly service, we were met with eye-rolls when we weren't being ignored. The first time, we arrived kind of close to closing time (we drove from an hour away after work to shop there). We were apologetic and very sensitive to the fact that the shop was closing within the hour. We thought maybe Sam was just tired or something and that was why she was being short and borderline rude to us. We felt very rushed so I bought some stuff and left. I needed clothes for an event. Most of the clothes didn't fit so we came back a week later to exchange and maybe shop some more. Sam was there again. It was midday so I thought maybe her attitude would be different. No, same old Sam. Rolling her eyes, being short with me and rushing. Another couple walked in and was welcomed with a "hello" and "how are we doing tonight?". But when WE first walked in she didn't bother saying anything. I couldn't help but notice the other couple was white. I wonder if this is the reason why? Maybe if you are white the workers here won't be acting like you shopping in an empty store is an inconvenience to them. Anyway, the selection here is nice. I probably would have been spending thousands of dollars a month here, but I won't be coming back if the person running my card just walks away once the transaction is complete without even saying anything. I'm clearly not welcome.

Update: Have spoken with corporate on this matter. Nobody cares. Even spoke personally with the Regional Vice President John Ford who reviewed the cameras and saw that my story was true. He didn't seem to care either. Changing this to 1-star. Mine isn't the only review like...

I went into the Springfield, IL location this past Thursday to buy a new dress shirt, and they had two options in my size, neither of which I was interested in. I needed the new shirt for Saturday, to wear a pink tie with. I also was looking for a pair of new dress pants, and was lucky to find a very limited selection with one pair in my size. I was also informed that no new dress clothes would be delivered to the store for sale until the end of November, and I was told that “we have just about everything in every size, except dress clothes.” This place used to be somewhere I loved to go and could always count on. But now, when I go, all I can count on is a ridiculously limited...

This is the first time I’ve ever been in this store they had everything to make my out fit complete the store manager was great she read my mind and came up with the color I needed and it’s nice that a store like this exists because bigger men have a hard time finding anything that fits properly the jeans and shirt I purchased fit great and it looks good, thank you dxl in Springfield Illinois for getting me taken care of , I will be back...
