Sorry to leave a bad review about one of the better restaurants in the area in terms of ambience and quality of food, but our last experience was not good at all. I planned a surprise party for my wife's birthday here, made the reservations a week in advance and even had them write a note that this was for a birthday. When my party got there the tables weren't ready and were made to wait over an hour for a table! What was the point of the reservation?? I had to stall my wife and give away the surprise when we couldn't go at the time I had told her. This would've been okay, but once we were seated the service was ABSURDLY slow. It was 30 minutes before we got our drink order in and another 20 before we got the drinks! It was 45 minutes before bread was brought to our table, tapas took over an hour to get. It was crazy. I would have walked out if I hadn't had a group with me. All told we were there for three and a half hours between the wait for seating and dining experience. The cherry on top was when a waiter at the table behind us dropped a full glass of wine which got all over and stained several of our jackets. At least the manager gave us a voucher for dry cleaning which was appreciated, but that was the extent. I gave two stars because the food is excellent, but I won't be coming back any time soon. Really...
Read moreI went to Barcelona for the first time on a Monday night at around 8ish and the place had a lot of people. It definitely showed me that it was a popular place to dine. The restaurant has four different sections for seating (that I noticed): Outside by the street, inside at tables, at the booth, and at the bar. There are less tables outside and therefore it is quieter. Inside at the tables it's a tighter space given the tables are very close to each other. The booth normally sits up to six people but it is probably the best area in the restaurant to sit. And the bar in shape of a “U” is in the middle of the restaurant with plenty of seats if you just want to get a drink. The place is not quiet, so if you’re looking for a quiet place to eat, your choice should be somewhere else. However, the “loudness” definitely added to the overall atmosphere because it was a great place to enjoy a social evening. The food was fantastic and not too overpriced either, between 25 and 30 dollars per entree, but the food is top quality. The service was great too. The staff really caters to the costumers to make them feel welcomed. It is a place I’d recommend to someone and a place I’d definitely...
Read moreI’ve dined at many Barcelona locations, primarily West Hartford and have always loved it. We just moved to Stamford and were excited to have it near us again. My gosh, this experience was not what we were used to.
First off, there’s no host which means there’s no communication. We asked for a table outside and were told five minutes. Then the manager came and said two girls seated inside were waiting for a table. Interesting, but sure. The manager offered us a table outside when we received a couple of our dishes so we passed.
Upon initially being sat, it took ten minutes for someone to even offer us waters and beverages. I ordered an Aperol Spritz and it was completely flat. We mentioned it to our server and when she came back with it, it was clear she just put seltzer water on top. It was completely watered down and barely drinkable. We asked for new plates for our paella and our server rolled her eyes and said sure. The interior is falling apart, all of the coverings are torn and it just looks bleak inside.
The food was overall fine, nothing great nothing awful. I just couldn’t believe this was the same group as my beloved Barcelona in...
