I was treated horribly at this Target today. I am a frequent shopper at this location and spend upwards of $100 per week here. Due to my experience today I will no longer give this place my business. I came in with my two young children (2 months and 2 years old). It is stressful enough trying to grab a few items with young children just to be treated with pure disrespect. I found a line that had one person before me and preceded to load my items for check out. The man scanned my items and as I used the card reader to complete check out it was broken and kept cancelling my transaction. Instead of calling a manager the associate sent me to customer service with a ticket that had my total cost on it and told me I needed to check out there because his line was getting too long as if all the other customers time was more important than mine. I took the ticket to customer service where there was a long wait. My two children at this point started to become restless so I went back to the associate that sent me away and asked that he call his manager. He replied that he would do it after he helped another gentleman before me. Yet again dismissing me. Another lady at the register beside me was free so I asked that she check me out. The ticket would not work so she had to rescan all my items while my children were crying. The previous associated watched her and did not even offer to help even though she was his elder and I was his originally customer. I was livid and embarrassed and I spoke with the manager who was dismissive and did not even listen to what happened as she thought I came over from self check out. She simply said we can give you $5.00 off your purchase as if that gave me back by time or as if that was my goal in complaining. If this is the type of staff target is now hiring I will not spend my money there any longer because they clearly do not value all customers. As a young black women it seemed very ironic that all the other customers the man chose to help ahead of me were white males and the woman who was left to fix the problem was a black female. I don't know if race played a part but I was definitely not given the same level of service especially as the primary customer. My business will...
Read moreFirst off, I hardly ever write reviews but on the rare occasion I’m compelled to is either I was blown away or the experience is too terrible to ignore.
I’ve really tried to give this place a chance. Tried multiple times to let this Target redeem itself but the only consistent thing about it is the terrible customer service. The first time I was unceremoniously “shooed” to the check out before I was finished shopping. It was literally a few minutes before closing time and I was searching for 1 last thing. Instead of offering to help I was treated this way. Second, the Target associate checking me out another time did not even know the store’s own policy for price matching their online prices if an item scans differently at check out. She was rude and argumentative and insisted I “JUST SCAN” my wallet which would’ve resulted in being charged full price for the items before she manually entered the price in their system. I’ve done this many times at every store that this scenario happened and never had this problem. It took a manager overhearing and taking action making her approve the changes. And, no, she did not apologize for being misinformed because God forbid she was wrong and a customer was actually right about her own store’s policies. Third, I purchased a gift at the self checkout and forgot to print a gift receipt. When I approached yet another associate for a reprint I was told “it’s too late” and again dismissed. I went to guest services and they were able to do a reprint albeit a roundabout way but was able to do it nonetheless.
I don’t know what it is with this location. Honestly I choose to drive to further locations despite this being the closest to me BECAUSE of how terrible their customer service here is. I will only utilize this location for drive up items from now just so I don’t have to deal with their associates. They’re a terrible representation of the Target corporation. Enter at...
Read moreI have been coming to the Target located in Dulles, VA for many years now. My experience yesterday will cause yesterday to be the last time I ever visit that location and I likely will do my best to avoid Target stores going forward. That is unfortunate because it used to be my favorite place to shop and relieve stress.
Yesterday after spending about 2 hours shopping in the store with my kids, I went to check out (with a shopping cart overflowing with merchandise) and there were only self-checkout lines available. I kindly asked the rep if anyone could ring up my items and she said I would have to use self-checkout. I looked at my shopping cart and said I have a cart full of items, is anyone available to check me out? She replied and said "only self-checkout ifs available at the moment". Then I said when will other associated be able to check me out? To which she responded and said "only self checkout is available".
I’m all for self-checkout when I have a few items in my cart, not when I have $450 worth of merchandise in my cart. To say this experience we disappointing is an understatement. Target is no longer one of my top choices to spend my money. I’ll spend more time and money.
After walking away from my cart, heading to the door and on my way out of the store, I heard the same rep say “ I can take the next customer”. I reluctantly checked out. To be honest if my kids hadn’t spent time picking out clothes, books and electronics I would not have went back to my cart to check out.
My recommendation is to train your associates to do better. This one incident has made a lasting negative impression and I will not be returning for any more horribly disappointing...
