I can not express in words how much I love Dr. Jawitz and his staff! Anyone with a fur baby of their own knows how absolutely crucial it is to have a vet that you trust explicitly and Dr. Jawitz and his staff are absolutely that for me. I became a mama for the first time a year and a half ago and have been taking my Lucy (dog) here since I adopted her. She is a rescue and therefore has a lot of fear and anxieties in many situation, especially when going to the vet. Dr. Jawitz and his staff have always shown the UTMOST care, patience and understanding when dealing with my Lucy and also when dealing with me! Being a new mom, I also had a lot of anxieties about my Lucy's health, especially when she came down with a very hard to diagnose stomach issue last summer. Dr. Jawitz was ALWAYS able to fit us in, no matter when I called. There was never a wait or a 'we're full for the next couple of days' and Dr. Jawitz very lovingly dealt with my questions and fears surrounding what was going on. To take it a step further, Dr. Jawitz himself would call regularly to check in on Lucy's progress and would always be available to discuss treatment options, answer my questions and put my fears to rest, when necessary. He also treats conservatively when the situation calls for it, as opposed to subjecting animals to all sorts of unnecessary tests, and owners to unnecessary expenses. He actually uses knowledge based reasoning to determine treatment, which I feel is an anomaly these days as most vets I know of will throw the kitchen sink at the animal when they come in for anything that is not obviously straightforward. I've never once questioned his judgement or decisions when others have expressed to me that maybe Lucy needs tests A-Z, and he has not once been wrong. He will also include the parent in the decision making process. While voicing his opinion, he will ultimately let the parent make the final decision, which is beyond refreshing. When I bring Lucy in for quick injections, they are always sure to make time for me to be able to come into a room with her, since they know how scared she is being separated from me, as opposed to having a tech take her and bring her back, which is totally normal procedure! They are sensitive to her needs and there is such a personal touch which is something you won't find at many/any of these 'boutique' vets out there these days. Dr. Jawitz's practice is 'old school' in the absolute best and most amazing sense of the term. He also has the best sense of humor, which is just an added bonus! Lucy always leaves with a sticker for being a good girl (even when she's not) and if she has blood taken, he's always sure to match her coban to her 'outfit' for the day! You can't find care like this anywhere these days and I am so forever grateful that I found this practice and decided to receive Lucy's care here. I hope Dr. Jawitz practices for the next 50 years because I can't imagine ever having to bring a pet anywhere other than him. He is by far the best there is out there. Period. Thank you, Dr. Jawitz and staff! You guys are amazing and so loved by so many...
Read moreHORRIBLE DOCTOR AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING YOUR ANIMAL HERE. I had no experience with vets before choosing this vet, so it took me a little while to realize but after choosing a new vet I now see how actually terrible of a vet Dr Jawitz is. He does the bare minimum and doesn't want to listen when you’re asking questions and actually talks down on you for asking how to best care for your dog. He told me that I shouldn’t look into dental care cause there was a high chance of him DYING with anesthesia!!! Later to find out that if I would have sought dental care then I would have prevented a lot of issues that have come up now. I had an appointment that lasted 2 minutes with him before he walked out and I was told we were done. He is not thoroughly examining and getting enough information from the owner to properly give care. It even showed when my new vet received his records and knew that they wouldn’t be very good or detailed after I told them what vet it was. Not to mention they close early all the time. What kind of business has those hours in the first place, especially one that deals with medical issues, and then closes early leaving people to get the voicemail and don’t have their vet to answer a question during business hours???. Too bad his office staff has been very kind with me and sweet to the animals , they are the only redeeming quality of this place, I hope he’s at-least good to them. Even with the nice staff I’d still give this place 0 stars. Idk how this place...
Read moreI have been taking our dogs to Dr Jawitz since 1993. I had a female black lab that lived to be almost 15 years old. Dr. Jawitz was her primary vet for that entire time. His personal and professional care was and always has been excellent. He has always been sensitive to both our dog's feelings and of our feelings. He explains what he is doing and why he is doing so for any treatments our dogs receive. We now have two female black labs, and they have been seen at SAH since they were puppies. We also have boarded our dogs at SAH and have always had good experiences/results. When I read others complaints about the attendants at the front desk, or the cost of the visits and care, I believe it casts an unfortunate negative light on the actual care and treatment of the animal. Veterinary care is not inexpensive. If you want inexpensive, treat your animal at home. (Have you ever looked at one of your own detailed hospital bills?) If you get placed on hold when calling and get irritated over it; you obviously do not make very many calls into offices or service centers. (How was your "hold time" the last time you called your cable company?) If I didn't have the utmost trust in the care and treatment my dogs received by both Dr Jawitz and the vet techs at SAH, I wouldn't continue to bring them...
