Appalling experience overall. So I'm changing jobs and my new employer does not provide a cell phone. So I dusted off an old iphone 6 that I bought 4 years ago and only used a month, and took it to the Verizon store in Streetsboro Ohio. I was going to just have this phone re-connected, but the employee I first worked with told me I could get $700 trade-in value on it. So I decided to purchase a new iphone 12 for $799.99. This employee struggled to explain the cost break down of the different plans when I questioned the numbers. He had to go "get help" a couple of times on this (but seemed to be a good guy in general). Anyway, I finally decided to go with the unlimited plan. So after an hour plus, we were finally ready to close the deal. Unfortunately I could not remember the Apple ID/password associated with the old phone so that I could sign out of it. So the employee said to bring the old phone back when I could find the old password and log out. That evening I was able to sign out of the old phone so I took it back to the store the next day. The original employee was not in so I worked with another (rather unfriendly) employee. All I wanted to do was give the old phone back to Verizon so the value could be applied to the account. When this employee saw the phone, she said it was only worth $350 in value not $700. Apparently what happened is when I stopped using the phone years ago, I had put it into a iphone 8 box from a new work phone and totally forgot about it. So the first employee looked only at the box and thought it was an iphone 8 not a 6 and that it was worth $700 trade in. So now, somewhat annoyed I said well I don't want to pay $450 for a new phone so I told the person I wanted to return the new phone and just use my old one. Another employee (I assume the store manager) came over wondering what was going on. The other employee explained the situation, and the store manager accused me of trying to, in his words "bait and switch" to get more $ for the old phone. Now I'm irritated. I said BS! I did not remember I put the old phone in the wrong box, and would not have made the connection even if I did. Then the other employee said that if I wanted to return the new phone there would be a $50 re-stock fee. Now I'm mad. I said it's not my fault the first employee I dealt with thought it was an iphone 8 because he only looked at the box and not the phone. Then the store manager snaps back and says "It's not our fault either. I have to pay a lot more that to send it beck to Verizon." At that point I just wanted to get my old phone and get out of there. Unfortunately the new phone had to be shut off and my old phone re-connected. Total time spent in store over two days ~3 hrs. Absolutely appalling experience and I will NEVER recommend this store to anyone. I may also call Verizon directly to explain the situation and my...
Read moreI spoke to one of the employees at this store about upgrading my phone to get the Sunday ticket deal. I upgraded to a new iPhone and he told me I had to upgrade to the unlimited ultimate plan which I didn’t need or want but figured it was a great deal. The employee hyped this deal up and didn’t act like there was any issue with getting the Sunday ticket deal with this plan. He said it would take a couple of days to get the email for it.
Well I waited about a week and didn’t get anything. I stopped in a different Verizon store to see what the issue was and the employee told me that the Sunday ticket deal was only for android phones and that this employee should not have told me all this. In fact I was not eligible at all for it with my current plan. From what I can tell this employee just blatantly lied to me to get the sale and increased my bill in the process. There were several other employees sitting in there not working with anybody and just let him tell me this false information. Unfortunately, I had already traded in my old phone so I’m stuck with the payment for the new one. Luckily, the employee at the second store I stopped at was able to fix my plan back to what it was initially.
The employee at the second store did set me up with a home internet deal that was supposed to get me the Sunday ticket deal. Once again, I never got an email and that employee got back with me and said the deal had been pulled early by Verizon. I will say he has been very helpful and has tried getting things fixed for me but as of right now I’m in limbo and 2 weeks into the NFL season with no answers. I plan to return the home internet and just buy the Sunday ticket myself. I have been an adamant fan of Verizon for years, but this has been giving me so many issues that I’m about done. My wife says to join her over at AT&T and...
Read moreMy wife and I went to the store today after getting an email about an offer; no I'll preface this by the experience we had at the Verizon "RETAILOR" had in Kent. We went to the store in Kent as we thought it was a regular Verizon store, they young man who helped us seemed to be knowledgeable etc, and he ASSURED us that our bill was going to drop at least $20 a month with the plan he put together. Needless to say when we got our fist bill after working with him it was $35 MORE a month. I called and was never able to get anyone, ESPECIALLY the con artist we dealt with.
Fast forward to today, when we went to the REAL Verizon store in Streetsboro. There we met "THE CHAD" as we now call him. Chad didn't jump on us like a velociraptor, he came up to us after we looked around a bit. He introduced himself, as we began discussing an upgrade option due to the offer I had received. Chad went through everything step by step, as I had explained the Kent situation, which he explained the difference between a retailor and a corporate store. After roughly 30 min of phone talk (and about the same talking about Sasquatch) we had a program put together that would save us $30 a month on our bill. I finally asked him, what if those saving don't appear; he said bring the statement to me and we'll make it right. That gave me a great sense of ease, my wife as well.
So if you need assistance, or an upgrade I can whole heartedly suggest going to the Streetsboro store and while there ask for Chad. He may be walking on water or parting the red sea (inside joke) but you will receive a first class experience that will give you comfort knowing you made the...
