We decided to give Motel 6 a try since they've pitched how great a stay with them would be. And we were only passing through for one night before going onward with our vacation. Plus we were tired and just wanted to clean up and go to sleep.
Well, it was the worst experience ever! I don't know where to begin, so I'll jump right in. The staff did not wear uniforms or name tags so you couldn't tell who worked there. The check in wasn't friendly. She had the nerve to lecture me about the pet and smoking policy. What about the policy to provide quality conditions to a paying customer?
They weren't around when it came time to check out either. I had to wait a good ten or fifteen minutes for her to show up. No bell or anything on the front desk to alert that people are waiting.
Now for the room. It had an odd smell. I couldn't determine if it was a pet odor or just an odor from whatever off-brand cleaning products used.
Next, the bedspread was disgusting with the stains on it. The sheets were wrinkled, the pillows were flat and old. The bathroom only had two towels. Oh boy, let's talk about those. The towels were not standard bath towels. They were hard and scratchy. We had to use our own towels. Thank goodness I always bring towels from home. The face towels were gross! Has the laundry room ever heard of BLEACH! If it doesn't come clean, then toss it for heaven's sake.
The outdated air conditioner was loud and could only be turned on or off because the knobs were broken. By the floors being wood, there was foot traffic over our head all night from the guests above us.
I should have took heed and walked out the door, when a suspicious couple was checking out after only being there for an hour. The woman is saying all this stuff for me to hear since I'm standing behind her. I didn't need to be a detective to know what the deal was with the couple.
The clerk also knew what was up when the woman tried to get a refund for the barely used room. I can only assume this spot is used for such activity a lot.
So, Motel 6, please don't leave the light on anymore. Shut it off and lock the dang doors...
Read moreDon't let the photos fool you! My kids and I stopped here to quickly have a few hours of sleep before finishing out last leg of our traveling to visit family. My kids held their noses as we walked from the front desk through the hallways, up the elevator and to our room. As we opened the door to our room, we were welcomed with an interesting smell, which was a little more bearable than the rest of the facility but at least we were able to mask it with my daughter's body spray. On a positive note, there were no signs of bugs or stains! For visualization purposes, the room was like a old college dorm room with an accent wall, one step up from a prison cell. No photos or decor of any type. But we didn't need anything fancy, we needed somewhere clean and safe to sleep for a few hours... We were there long enough to drop off bags, brush our teeth, and check for bugs, before chaos broke out on our floor due to an overdose in the room next to us. The hallways at 11pm echoing with people screaming, banging on doors and the sound of an individual dry heaving. Our windows lit up with red lights not soon after. Kudos to the Streetsboro fire, police, and paramedics for responding so quickly. Also thanks to the paramedic's recommendation to leave this building with my kids immediately. Which I did leave, but not without a very disheartening conversation with the staff and manager. Very unaccommodating for a single mother with two kids in the middle of the night, now getting back on the road for 3 more hours of driving. No help to find a new room, no reimbursement, no accommodation whatsoever. In fact, the man at the front desk seemed very accustomed to this type of situation (as the rest of us were NOT). Perhaps a regular event occurrence. I wish a full recovery for the gentleman whom did have a worse night than us that evening. But for everyone else, I don't recommend this motel for you, your family, NOT even your animals. You deserve better. Choose...
Read moreThe room we were given was filthy. The bedding had dirt and hair from previous guests all over it like it wasn't even washed between stays. The towels were dirty as well, stained and dirt all over them. The surfaces of the room were also not cleaned and the floors were muddy. We asked on 3 different occasions for new bedding and all of our requests were ignored. The front desk was not helpful at all and most of the time the people working had no idea what they were doing. Definitely my worst experience with a hotel and I will not be returning. I have warned my friends about my stay as well so they know not to go either.
Update 02/03/21: Made reservation through booking.com and the hotel has lied to the representatives there stating that we made no complaints and that they gave us a room upgrade for the second night which was COMPLETELY false. The state of the room was too disgusting for us to even finish our reservation and we left before the second night even began. We voiced our concerns of the room to the front desk upon checkout and asked for a name so we could report who we talked to to booking.com and the man there out right refused to give us any information. We were given no Name, no number to contact, no email, nothing so we could follow up. Booking.com has told me that the hotel is refusing their calls and that they are unable to reach them in anyway. The stay itself was terrible and the "help" we are getting from the hotel is even worse. Please do not stay at this location, they have no respect for their guests and lie to save their reputation. An absolutely...
