I got a Boston terrier from them. At first everything seems to be ok with the puppy playful energetic. Thought that she was a good fit for our home. About 2 months into having the dog I noticed that her brother was brought back to Petland I know this because I got a notification for new puppies and he was on my new puppies to come see. I got the puppy from Petland unknowingly unaware that my puppy would be wrong for my family. I’ve had several dogs before but this dog is different, I did my research on proper techniques for Boston terriers and how to properly train them and house break. I also tried to follow what pet land instructed me to do. They told me that I had to start immediate crate training, and potty training. And they also instructed me that the dog had all the shots, and there was absolutely nothing wrong. This dog was supposed to be completely healthy. They also Gave me a list of vets that the puppy could not be associated with because it was out of their network. They also told me that the puppy had to go to my pet vet because that’s who the dog had been seeing already red flag 🚩 I did that for a while, but then I started noticing that my dog only put on weight after receiving shots each time. But then I also started noticing other things like for instance we had a schedule which I also read that we are supposed to have a schedule for the dog Stick to the schedule which we did And I also read up on how many times and how long the dog could actually hold her pee Which I never wanted the dog to hold her pee any longer than needed because we do have school and we also go to work and throughout the day I come to make sure she goes out on a daily basis. When I go back to work, then my husband and my kids come home she goes out as well and we stick to a 5hr routine, no matter what when we went out of town we made arrangements for our dog to go to family because I did not trust doggy daycare if I didn’t send my kids to daycare then why would I send my puppy to Daycare. So even though we’ve been sticking to the same routine over and over again, our dog is almost a 1yrs completely act like she does not understand where to potty even though she been on this for months I asked the vet several times of what I could possibly do to stop this behavior. The doctor said that she was just rebellious And to keep giving her strict instructions and sticking to the schedule. And each time we started finding more more accidents to the point now she has to stay in her crate. Not only that she acts like she can’t hold her pee she can’t hold her poop. She continues to use the bathroom in her bed no matter how many times we have taken her out to the bathroom , trainer that I’ve sent her to said she is untrainable and do not understand what to do. I even went along with the vets recommendation of trainers and still nothing worked I still have been repeatedly doing the same routine and still She uses the Bathroom in her cage and also in her bed also on her pad and not to mention she will purposely not eat or stop herself from eating. She has also been treated for a BV infection. Not understanding how she even got it when she’s been going to the bathroom on a regular basis. Then when I called them askingWhy my dog is untrainable and were there any issues they insured she was completely healthy and I was told that if I wanted to give the dog back to them then I would still have to continue paying them for the dog, which that’s not what I had wanted to do. This dog was more than five thousand Dollar only for us to realize that our dog Has some type of learning disability and this is not what we expected .They also told me that they would give me the HR department’s number she provided a number to me that was not even connected to them. Then I read online that you have up to a year to give the dog back to them and get your money back, but that is untrue. Right now my dog looks sick I have spent practically almost $1000 in proper training only to learn she has a disability she also suffers from severe anxiety and...
Read moreUpdated on august 18th 3:14am vhagar has passed away due to Petland disgusting neglect!!! DO NOT COME HERE. This place and these people are absolutely works of the devil and pure greed. On Sunday, my husband and I went to Petland to look at puppies. We had discussed prior to our visit that we weren’t getting a dog, but we met a little miniature Australian shepherd. This pup looked absolutely miserable. He looked severely depressed and slightly lethargic. My husband questioned me several times asking if the dog was sick. I told him no, and assume that the dog was OK because he had just been thrown on the airplane and taken from his mother. He was only eight weeks old. We definitely felt financially pressured from the agency to buy the dog. Upon leaving Petland they ask you to sign a document asking the vet if you have any questions about the dog. On my paper I wrote that I had questions about him being lethargic and kennel cough. They told me in order to take the dog home that I need to remove that from the document. I assume this was protocol and thought that it was not out of order. This is highly illegal. Upon taking the puppy home he did seems likely sick, but he pepped up. He was extremely happy to be loved by an entire family and have a beautiful giant home. A few days after him coming home I woke up to him vomiting. His vomit smelled like death. Myself, being an animal lover, my entire life I knew that this dog was in critical condition. We rushed him to a urgent care veterinary clinic. The doctor was also extremely concerned about the welfare of our baby. We only had $400 in her bank account and used every dollar to save this puppy. because of a third-party document we signed we paid for a company that allotted the same amount of money we paid for the dog to use on medical care. Are these people that do the third-party are mediators and are not a part of Petland. They have hired them because they have so many issues with dogs. This third-party company was extremely helpful but what they do all day is try to mediate a solution. The amount of dogs that have Home sick or have quickly died coming from Petland is astronomical. We took the dog back to the vet quickly. He was tested for multiple things and quickly tested positive for parvovirus. He also had numerous worms in his gut. Petland promised us that he had been tested for a parvovirus upon entering their facility, and upon leaving. This is a lie. Our pop is currently in critical condition. He hasn’t ate or drink and days. His eyes are rolling in the back of his head like he’s dying. He’s lethargic he won’t walk. And he is on 10+ medications. These people are absolute nightmares. They have a very horrendous reputation in the area and are known as selling dogs who are very sick. They buy these dogs from Amish breeders who do not take care of them properly. They stated that the dog was fully vaccinated when we took him home. However, multiple veterinarians have told us that these vaccinations do not count because they were not given by a veterinarian. These vaccinations that they supposedly gave were given by the breeders, and can be easily bought online. They expect an abnormal amount of money for these dogs and they’re sick. This is an unfair system in the state of South Carolina, where dogs are considered property. Dogs are not property. They are creatures with souls. This dog does not deserve this kind of treatment, and he is the sweetest, kindest little boy. Please pray for this pup and please help families like us shut down an Petland. I have no trust in the so-called facility or the people that work in it. They are not animal lovers. They are animal abusers. They’re only interest is making a dollar. Where is the ethics and love for these poor creatures who cannot speak up for themselves? It is our jobs as human beings to defend these animals. They don’t know who they are messing with a family of animal lovers who will fight til the end. Don’t ever purchase a puppy from Petland because it is not a puppy to them. It is...
Read moreThis place is absolutely disgusting! They peddle sick puppy mill puppies like used car salesman. They literally have multiple vets they refuse to reimburse from, due to their negligence being so apparent that it caused outcry from local pet lovers and vets. These people ONLY, and I repeat, ONLY have solid reviews because they give you multiple chances to get a free toy if you leave them a good review.
Mine and many other puppies COME from petland extremely sick, due to malpractice and extremely unkept and dangerous puppy mills. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing your dog from absolutely anywhere else.
For reference, I recently purchased a 10 week old golden retriever puppy, (for 3000$ with a 30% discount that we haggled over lol) who had shown absolutely 0 signs of distress or illness prior to purchase. Within the first 24 hours my puppy had gone from extremely playful, to extremely lethargic, dull gums, refusing to eat, and secreting a thick dark green discharge from her nose in droves. We immediately took her to the vet, where we were told that our puppy was showing signs of being extremely sick (possibly developing pneumonia from neglect), and that it would cost us well over 1000$ for the plethora of tests we’d need to ensure her wellbeing. We called Petland and were immediately met with intense backlash. The woman who answered the phone had the gall to immediately diminish the vets medical opinion, degrade us, and make us feel uncomfortable and unintelligent by saying that her symptoms were “obviously kennel cough”, and we were then told that we’d have to still pay the rehoming fee of 750$ if we could not provide a formal diagnosis, though our puppy was very obviously ill. After some time and playing telephone, they agreed to take her back without any charge, because they KNEW she was sick!
If you have any self respect, or love animals, take your business elsewhere.
Edit: Once again Petland proves their ability of providing inept dog care AND customer service. Responding with both me and my wife’s full name aswell as baseless claims and accusations against us with 0 evidence to back it up. please challenge our statements, we’d be happy to provide to you what truly happened! we’ve left our contact information with your gm, as you nor your claims manager have the gall to be responsible for the situation, nor plan to properly investigate why the puppy was sick in the first place. we didn’t even have the puppy for 36 hours, yet our neglect is why you took her back? what a truly pathetic implication. can’t...
