Today (8/17/24) was the first time we have ever been to any Sunrise Bistro, and it definitely will not be the last! We were a party of four adults, two teenage girls, and a 4-year-old. Cinda kept everything smoothly without being overbearing, made some excellent recommendations, and just overall represented the establishment in the most excellent way. Kudos, Cinda!
Now for the things we tried and what we thought.
Bacon Wrapped Hushpuppies: 7 hushpuppies on the plate with cajun honey butter. Delicious and fresh. Not enough for a large party like we had, definitely should have ordered two or three!
Nutty Crepe: Excellent crepe with Nutella in it. The berries were very, very fresh!
Farmer's Open Faced Omelet: Every single ingredient was super fresh and the omelet was cooked to perfection. Great flavor mix from the ham, potatoes, onions, and peppers and the pepper jack/cheddar cheese blend really makes a difference in a great way.
BYO Burger: This was more medium and not cooked well-done as ordered, but still delicious. The cajun fries make a great side. The toppings, just like everything else, were the freshest around. Crisp lettuce and onion and juicy tomato.
Chicken & Waffles: Waffles had good flavor, but fairly standard. What really stood out was the chicken. Light, fluffy breading with a crispy texture and fabulous flavor. Combined with the waffles and syrup... you just have to try it! chef's kiss
French Toast: You can definitely taste the nutmeg and it is some of the best we have tried. Highly recommended if you like French Toast!
Chicken Florentine Shrimp & Grits: The shrimp was so fresh and has zero fishy flavor/smell to it. Cooked to perfection and didn't alter the taste of the rest of the dish. The grits were creamy and the sauce was to die for. The biscuit was fresh and a perfect substitution for the toast to dip into the leftover sauce at the bottom of the bowl. Even the ones at the table who don't like grits tried and liked it. Highly recommended!
Country Fried Steak Benedict: Everything was cooked to perfection and, oddly enough, the collards were the standout on this dish. Full of flavor and absolutely amazing. The fried steak was simply phenomenal and the hollandaise had a great taste to it.
Coffee Bar: Great concept! An option or two of creamer would be a nice addition, but excellent choices of coffee flavors. If you love coffee, you simply can't go...

The most recent visit was the last straw. We were offered a seat at a cramped two-top on the side behind the hostess counter — a spot that didn’t even seem practical for staff to serve, much less for customers to sit comfortably. When we politely asked about visibly-open booth seating we were told none were available. Mind you, there were at least 3 booths open and there was no wait. It was not packed for a Sunday.
This wasn’t our first negative experience either. A previous visit ended with a snarky comment from the same hostess when I came back for a debit card I had accidentally left behind. Her response? “What am I supposed to do? Call the manager who’s in labor right now? It is Mother’s Day after all.” I wasn’t upset about waiting — I was simply trying to retrieve my card. There was no need for the attitude. And shouldn’t there be a policy in place that cards go to a specific location. Quite concerning that the waitress stated she gave it to the manager, but when I went there they could not locate it. Did she take it home with her?
We’ve supported this restaurant for years. On average, we spend around $50 each visit, and we’ve brought family from out of town here because we loved it so much. In fact, the Sunday after my sister’s wedding, a group of us came here to celebrate together. But at this point, I don’t want to be at a place where I’m perceived as a burden. I don’t understand as I’ve always tipped at minimum 18%. I’m a pretty easy-going person and I’ll let a lot go, but this will be one of my first negative reviews and I hope this helps others from receiving this sort...
Read moreCame in yesterday for the first time. Heard good things and Google Maps told us it was less busy than usual. And have the bestie from Detroit wanting to get some great southern breakfast.
Arrived and was seated almost immediately by who I presumed to be the manager or owner. The decor at the front of the restaurant was nice. Once we got to the table we waited a bit to have our drink order taken. Our waitress was awkward and seemed confused right from the start. We ordered a breakfast pizza as an appetizer. It’s was good. We had to wait a bit to take our orders because everyone were ready and then found out they do not serve sausage links, only patty. We have our order and waited about 20-25 mins for it to be brought out, not to bad.
The waitress was absolutely ABSENT during that time. We ran out of tea twice and had to ask two different people for refills. My boyfriend disliked the biscuits and gravy so he had them taken back but still offered to pay for them because he did order them, the restaurant took them off the bill.
My friend ordered a Cesar style wrap, no Cesar add ranch since you do not serve links. It was covered in Cesar even though our waitress wrote it down AND repeated it to us.
I ordered the classic breakfast and my scrambled eggs must have been bad because I gave them to my boyfriend to eat as he sent his breakfast back and he got so sick last night!! It smelled just like rotten eggs!!!
Our waitress acted like she didn’t care, and after we sent the biscuits and gravy back the manager looked pissed off so we didn’t want to bother him. Honestly, if someone doesn’t like your food, you shouldn’t get so offended. I tasted the biscuits and gravy too and it did not taste good.
The grits were pretty...
