Marcus Palace Cinema — Local services in Sun Prairie

We've been to the Bistro theater twice now, different auditoriums. My one complaint is that the safety bar in Auditorium 4 slightly blocks the lower portion of the screen for anyone who is less than 6 foot tall if they choose to recline their chair. In fact if you were short enough it would appear as a black line across the lower portion of the screen. (This was not the case in the other auditorium).

I've liked the food both times I attended. I enjoyed the chicken burrito and the hummus plate both times, the buffalo wings were only so-so, not nearly spicy enough. The weird banana bread pudding... I guess I'm not really even sure what that was supposed to be so I don't know if it was good or not. It was sort of a caramelized toasted "thing", way too sweet, and little or no banana, and I wouldn't order it again. This is a pleasant and very casual way to enjoy a movie, a major step up from watching in your living room and dining off a TV tray. But if you are easily annoyed or the small distraction of the waiters might lessen your movie-going experience, then, go to one of the Ultra screens instead.

As for people down rating the theater because they can't figure out how to reserve a seat online, or mysteriously think that if they just show up 40 minutes that somehow a popular show won't be sold out on a Friday... the world is seriously laughing at you. The reservation system was a long overdue upgrade, and a great way to get people away from their 3D TVs an back into the theaters. There are other venues in town that cater to people who need have their festival seating rush/crush to feel as if they are getting something for nothing. If you can't figure this out how lame that is, that's on you , not...

Took my wife to see a movie this afternoon. Movie was okay, little disappointed in Marks’ premovie tidbit. I like the corny scenes he does…this anime one wasn’t my favorite.

The reason behind my low rating is due to management/their inability to properly train their employees. Upon entering the lobby, was faced with a rather long line. Not the end of the world, though, little ridiculous only having 1 register open…yet having an employee ask everyone in line if they purchased an online ticket..?

After 4-5 min waiting for my turn. I asked for two tickets and slid a $50 bill across the counter. Was told a manager is needed to accept my legal American currency. I paid with a card to speed up the already long process. Was then pestered by said manager “we have to check bills because we’ve received counterfeit bills.”

That’s not my problem nor should I have to wait for someone to come check that my money is…money. The girl behind the desk had nothing to say but “I need a manager.” No apologies for my inconvenience…not even from said manager. Just excuses as to why they were wasting my time.

On top of that. They gave me the wrong ticket. No seat number. No room number. So I had to go back…after spending $60 on 2 tickets, 2 pops, and a bucket of popcorn…to ask for tickets showing my seat/room location. 5 min later…of course manager was called…I got the correct tickets. Again, no apologies.

Your parking lot is packed. Concessions are your bread winner. Why are you worried about 1-2 fake bills? Greedy much?? Also, train your employees/have a pen. It’s not rocket science.

Will be some time before returning. AMC in Fitchburg will accept my money without...

To preface, Marcus Theaters as a brand is surprisingly pretty good! The seats are made with quality and keep in condition fairly well, so your time watching is comfortable. The sound system is great, and the picture is outstanding.

The experience then is made to succeed, and the only way to fail the customers is with poor practices. What do I mean by this? The staff are inattentive at best, lost more realistically. The food counter double charges you while redoing their own mistakes, the kitchen (literally next door) is uncoordinated with the ordering system and you will sit forever while your food cools off in the window and your tracking device does absolutely nothing to notify you. Total chaos that is attributed to unawareness rather than laziness or malicious intent. The only people doing anything are the guys sweeping the halls and rooms between showings. Why? Inexperience and complete lack of oversight. This is textbook systematic failure from the top down. Management at this location is entirely lacking and you can see it plainly in the way this particular theater operates.

Want to watch a show on Friday? As I sit here on Tuesday, 3 days away, I cannot see the entire roster of movies being shown, because they NEVER have the schedule updated further than 2 days. Palace and Point are impossible to make plans for, and shame on you for expecting the area manager to be accountable or do something that they are being paid for to any capacity that amounts to anything more than stealing checks at the end of the day. The only person that should be more embarassed of themselves is the one writing the checks and burning their money to validate...
