Let's be honest here: Sun Prairie has A LOT of pizza places. Most are good. Some are just...not. See other reviews. But, in a town/city/suburb (I can't keep up) flooded with them, Mod Pizza stands alone. (Alone, four miles from another Mod Pizza. This review is Sun Prairie location specific.)
Mod Pizza is a pizza place in a three-store strip shop by Target, Five Below, and wife stores. If you turn into the parking lot too quickly from the main parking lot entrance you'll crash into the brick dumpster area. Hang a right and keep right - the left can be narrow with parking and blind turns. There's a Jersey Mike's and a mattress store in the same strip building. Parking, though weirdly laid out, is abundant.
There's a difference from most pizza places at Mod Pizza, and this is the part to pay attention to: You get toppings for free. Yes, free. Including cheese! And cheese we've all heard of! In the cheese state! Adding Ground beef, olives, and onions no longer costs the same as an "on-sale" 12-pack of Diet Coke at the local grocery stores.
Another thing to pay attention to: The pizza size is smaller than you'll expect at 11" or 8". Many of us, including me, are unhealthy enough, and for me, an admittedly overweight male, the portion size represents what a human should have. My only regret is that I want more Mod Pizza. self shame mode over
Back to review mode: It tastes good. No, it tastes great. Seriously. Honestly. They should pay me. Our family went into this place blind on our family Friday pizza night (my suggestion, thank you) and we hoped for the best.
My wife and daughter are picky. Me, I'll eat anything and, later on, maybe complain about it in a review. My daughter and wife like pepperoni. My wife hates olives and wants to be healthy portion-wise and crust-wise. Daughter and I like black olives but I like beef and onions and she does not. When ordering pizza with a budget (and fridge lifetime and space, to be practical) in mind it gets complicated and concessions/compromises get made. Here, we all ended up getting what we wanted for a reasonable price (I kid you not, this is a deal alert - you can't go wrong here) and it tastes excellent.
The crust is flaky, fall-apart, cracker-thin. It's 11 inch for the regular pizza or 8 inch for the kiddo (not really specified on the menu as a kid's size, but common sense and all that). The cauliflower crust that my wife ordered was delicious and, in all respects, indistinguishable in taste (remember, my wife, the picky eater) from the regular crust my daughter and I enjoyed. We all tried it and agreed it was delicious.
Curbside pickup was flawless. The phone number is visibly posted in the lot in front of the strip mall - opposite the Five Below lot. The interior was clean, well-decorated, and the staff were...present. Man, these Covid-19 days....
There were a couple of forgivable problems that did not really affect my overall review. In my opinion, my pizza was short on red sauce. The other two pizzas were OK upon my asking, but if you like the feel and taste of sauce like I do I'd ask for extra. Also, the curbside pickup shelves were wooden shelves. The pizzas got cold on the way home, but not terribly so. A warming oven , as often as it might be despised in the restaurant industry, would help keep the food warm for your customers.
Ok, I don't really write long reviews on places unless I have an issue with them. Mod Pizza met our family's exotic needs without being...

My wife and I visited your Sun Prairie, WI location on 30 June 2024 around 12:00pm. Upon arrival, as I was trying to decide what I wanted, my wife noticed that your employees (the manager being the instigator) immediately began speaking poorly about us for our choice of clothing.
They were being blatantly prejudice towards us based on our patriotic attire. The lead worker and young gentleman went on to speak about us the entire time we were ordering, standing no more than 10 ft away.
As I mentioned before, I wasnt aware of the situation until my wife mentioned to me that they were speaking about us. I then heard your manger on shift asking one of your employees "if he wanted segregation to comeback". Shortly after, I asked to have a word with her regarding her unnecessary, and disrespectful comments towards my wife and I.
She responded with insolence, while taking no accountability and dismissing my concerns. She would not engage in communication with me and walked away in a brash, disrespectful manner.
The young gentleman aproached us asking "if we have a problem". We explained to him how we were there to eat pizza, not to be judged and disrespected. Although he wasn't exactly being gracious, he did eventually apologize. This was only after we reiterated to him how judging people based on appearance is discriminatory behavior. We appreciated his apology.
We are extremely disappointed as we enjoy eating at MOD Pizza. I cant begin to understand why a place which claims to be about "peace and love", and acceptance would be so judgemental, inequitable, and discourteous to their customers based solely on...
Read moreI try my hardest not to write negative reviews, but I came in with my grandfather, cousin, and boyfriend last night around 8. The staff was very unorganized and very short with us. Instead of having one person doing salads and pizzas, one on register they kept hopping around in the middle of our orders. When I ordered a mini pizza and the crust I was given was TWICE the size of my grandfather’s mini crust the worker actually barked at me for mentioning it. My bad for thinking he got me the wrong one. They were not kind with the fact that my grandfather was hard of hearing either. When it came time to ring us up (3 mini salads, 2 mini pizzas, 2 mods, and 4 fountain drinks) the worker (curly haired guy who snapped at me about pizza crust) kept talking over us while we were trying to tell him what we had. Unfortunately we couldn’t eat at the same time either because they burnt 2 of the 4 pizzas and had to remake them. The man cooking pizzas seemed like he may have been the manager on duty, and he was absolutely unapologetic, if not ruder than some of the employees were to us. I’ve never encountered these issues at a MOD before, and despite sounding cliche, I won’t be back to this location. Someone from corporate or franchise should look into this store’s service. I almost forgot, a woman came in for her to go order and she asked to be handed the pizzas while we were at the register, and the man who appeared to be the manager yelled at her 3 separate times to walk past us to get them (there was no room.) 2 stars is probably generous for their...
