I have spent the last two years researching various Nursing schools all over the state of California ( that is where I'm from), and the US. So many of them are plagued with waiting lists, or a ridiculous amounts of prerequisites ( which I did complete ALL of them over a three year period. Speech 1 and 2, English 1A composition, Chemistry, Bio-chem, Microbiology, A&P 1 and 2 ) before you are even considered to enter a program to one of the many schools plagued with waiting lists, or some ridiculous lottery )YOU name it, I've taken it! The list goes on and on with the red tape. I actually flew all the way out from Palm Springs California to visit the school. I had all of my required paperwork handy before I walked in. I walked in not really expecting much. Just mainly inquiring ( but had my paperwork in the car just in case) long story short. I started the admissions process for the (evening program )Professional Nursing RN Program. The Administration staff was just amazing! They made me feel very welcome! They were beyond organized!they were very friendly!
They set me up to take my entrance exam right away! The word " exam " is more scary than it is! I finished and passed.
They introduced me to a few of the instructors, gave a tour of their school, classrooms, lab and facilities. Of course it's mandated to have a interview with the Associate Dean before the final 'Ok'. She was great. She made me feel very comfortable. Was able to relate her personal experiences to my level for me to understanding.
I know ahead that school is going to be challenging! I'm going back as an older adult. This isn't the first time I have been to college. There will be times where I'll want to pull my hair out. I'll have to restructure the way I live around my study habits, classroom theory, and exams.
I see other reviews mentioning teachers ' favoring other students.'
In the three years I attended college in Southern California! When you: Are Dependable, Show up on time, do your very best not to miss a day. Do exactly what the instructors ask. Work hard, and listen to instruction. Instructors are generally going to respect what you are all about. Are instructors and students going to see eye-to-eye all the time? No. Some of my previous instructors and myself probably didn't ' gel' together (personality wise), but you stay professional, and keep your cool. We're supposed to be adults and learn to work with it. Better get used to it. This is real life in the working world. We don't always see eye-to-eye with our coworkers. But you learn to be professional, and work with them.
This is Nursing School! Be prepared to EARN it! Nursing is not an easy profession. I want to be prepared for it!
Thankfully I found a school that is willing to give me an honest shot at this. I will study, and work my _ss off. The only one who will fail at this will be me if I don't.
I give them 5 stars because they used a holistic approach with my admission process. I can't wait to...
Read moreI started on November 11, 2019. I had toured about four other schools before touring Jersey College. It would be by fate that even though Jersey College was the last school I toured. That I instantly felt that this is where I would have my ADN finally.
I had started and stop so many times before. I had just from January 2019 till October 2019 attended an approve but not accredited school. Please do not waste your time and money like I did. I wanted to have a school that was accredited and had an excellence reputation with the community. I found both at Jersey College. Trust me every school has its ups and downs. There is no perfect nursing school.
Moreover, I during my second semester saw how while other schools were closed and not open Jersey College was committed to keeping up with their end of the agreement. Providing me with a structured and quality education. A totally brick and mortar institution transformed to a highly functioning virtual online school, literally overnight. I did not stop or have any delay due to CoVid 19. I thank GOD for Jersey College.
For the great Professors both theory and clinical that pushed us to strive for excellence. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I salute and I am proud to be a Jersey College graduate May 25, 2022. Dreams and goals really can and will come to fruition. Please do not give up on yourself no matter how long it takes. You are worth it and there are clients, patients, professional colleagues that need that special something that only you can give. The world is waiting on you. Take that first step and make today that day.
I can't not forget to mention Ms. Maxine, Professor Chaundra Whitehead, Professor Zunga,Associate Dean Dr. Marilou Strider, Professor Irina Gubanova, Professor Donald Avart, Professor Maxine Brainey, Professor Alberto Velasquez, Professor Jinghai Wen, Professor Anthony Santana, Professor Clara Samuels, Professor Dr. John Silver, Dean Dr. Cynthia Short, Professor Dr. Axel Collazo, Professor Lois Lazzopina, Professor Miguel Acosta, Professor Anna Guerrero, Professor Jill Sclaver, Professor Julie Gladstein, Professor Krystal Rivera. Professor Arizbeth Ortiz. Thank-you all for all your help and words of...
Read moreI attended the LPN program. I would like to say thanks to following people who made my traumatizing experience positive ( Jen at the front desk ,My shoulder to cry on Jasmine in admissions, Proffesor Luka A&P , Dr. Davis clinical labs instructor , Tiana in financial aid ) . The LPN program does not have a set Fundamentals teacher since the start ! Every term they are replacing and trying to find a new teacher to teach the class. The term before me had the same situation! My first day was my fundamentals teacher first day. Her teaching was not translating into me passing the first two exams along with many other students ! After Exam 2 , a little less than a month before finals, they decided to replace her and have the dean / PM in charge person who is a nurse btw to teach the class on material after exam 2, not anything before ! So anything we failed , we had to self teach ourselves our mistakes.( The class is held one time per week btw and each test has almost 10 chapters of material ) Imagine passing all your classes but failing by two points in the very same class they removed a teacher due to poor exam results ! No retests on exams ! They do not update the grades so they are always inaccurate and never put it in ! The exams you have to wait a week before they can let you know what you scored ! There is no grace period on exams day , I was late by 3 mins and they did not let me in to take my exam. They pick and choose when they wanna wait for someone on exam day. I refuse to retake another 16 weeks for one class and waste more of my time & money ! I do not recommend coming here for LPN program. The stress is not worth it ! I speak up when injustice and unfairness is always involved. I will achieve my goal somewhere else where my career is taken...
