July 11, 2024 update They took my feedback seriously. The store is significantly neater and cleaner now. It's a pleasure shopping here. The variety and breadth of products is unbeatable. Thank-you Patel Brothers. In the Broward and Miami-Dade area this is the best Indian grocery store.
Iāve lived in the mid-Atlantic region of the US for 3+ decades. I suppose we are spoilt by the abundance of great Indian grocery stores. Mind you, these people have a vast inventory of all things Indian that are food related. I can get any obscure spice or ingredient that small Indian grocery stores are unlikely to have.
Whatās my problem then? Compared to my go-to store in the mid-Atlantic region, this store is dirty. Not only that, many of the fresh vegetables have large blemishes. For instance, I would prefer to purchase limes, cauliflower, potatoes, green and red peppers, and other fresh vegetables at the Walmart Supercenter that is a stoneās throw from here. Even if itās more expensive at Walmart (prices are comparable). At Walmart the fresh vegetables are unblemished and the store is spic-and-span clean.
For other things like okra, ginger, mint, etc., and Indian spices I really donāt have a choice, so I will shop here.
Patel Brothers, please visit some of your own stores in Edison NJ or other venues in the Northeast or mid-Atlantic region to see how your family keeps those places clean and the fresh veggies unblemished. There is always scope to learn and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI both HATE and LOVE to go shopping here for produce, parathas, spices and other desi foodstuffs for my husband and my family. The store is always busy. The produce is almost always of excellent quality and usually at a great price. However, the lines can be long and sometimes (about half of the time) the employees (managerial staff and cashiers) are rude and or unhelpful.
The employees who are usually in the back of the store (the stockers), often are the most helpful, friendly ones instead of the employees (cashiers, managers) that ACTUALLY are SUPPOSED TO ENGAGE or INTERACT with the customers.
MANY of the other customers tend to be rude and pushy and will cut in front of you in line if you don't hold your ground. MOST customers will NOT let you in front even if you only have 1 or 2 items in your hand, so I don't recommend going here if you only have a few small items to buy because you will likely have to wait behind several other people who have very full carts, as there is no "speedy" or "10 or less" lines here and they very rarely open up more than two lines no matter how busy it is.
Occasionally, I may luck out and get a cashier who is helpful and friendly and in a good mood and occasionally I may actually get there when it's less busy and not have that long of a wait in line oh, but this is not the norm.
The long lines, crowd and variable, often sub-par customer service and makes me want to stay away quality, selection and prices keep me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have HAD IT with Patel Brothers. If you advertise a price, you need to HONOR THAT PRICE at checkout. This is not rocket scienceāitās called basic business ethics, and apparently, this place missed that memo entirely.
I pointed out a clearly labeled shelf price, and instead of fixing the issue, the guy stood there like he was in a trance, just staring at the box... the price... the box... the price⦠like he was trying to crack the Da Vinci Code. Then he takes it to the cashier and they do the exact same thing. Are yāall serious?!
All this over a $2.50 difference YOU caused with your own labeling. I was ready to spend more, had other groceries in hand, but told them to forget it. I left everything and walked out, because I refuse to give my money to a place that clearly doesnāt respect its customers or their time.
Letās be honest: the prices here are wildly inflated, half the items are expired or borderline stale, and Iām tired of seeing dented, dusty cans on the shelf like this is some bargain basement, not a grocery store.
Anyone who says Patel Brothers is affordable or reliable must be out of touch or out of their damn minds.
Patel Brothers, youāre not just overpriced youāre overhyped, under-delivering, and full of false promises. This was my last visit. Do better, or keep losing customers who are tired of...
