I visited here on a Sunday with my son. My experience was horrible. I ended up walking away and leaving my food on the table due to the disrespect of staff. There are a bunch of little kids working behind the cash register and in the dining area as servers when you have children running your business. It's definitely gonna be a playground... My first experience I noticed that it was just a warehouse and it was very small inside given the way how I was dressed, I didn't expect the most out of the setting to begin with. I proceeded to inquire about the weight for inside seating since outside was very hot and I was told not much longer because someone was finishing up And paying their tab. I got two drinks out of the refrigerator and I stood at the register one of the little girls behind the register a dark skin little girl proceeded to to ask me to step aside so that someone that was paying for their food could pay as if I wasn't already standing there which makes no complete sense to ask someone to move when they're already at the register just so you can cash someone else out one of her coworkers proceeded to tell her that she needed to cash me out because it senseless to ask me to move when I was already standing there later on I sat down at the table with my child, and I proceeded to order my food. I did not have a menu inside so I asked a lot of questions first things first why didn't not have a menu?... So now we get our food my son had strawberries on his waffle I proceeded to ask them for waffles that didn't have strawberries my server for some reason decided she didn't care about my child's life and proceeded to have the cooks. Take the strawberries off of the waffles. I watched her as she did that so by the time she turned around and noticed that I had already been watching her she proceeded to act dumbfounded, and then ask oh you said he was allergic right?... I proceeded to ask her why did she do that so her coworker then suggested she shouldn't have done that due to the allergen the same coworker that commented on the situation I overheard her making a very ruderemark “reading is fundamental” that reading is fundamental assuming I had a menu right?!! I proceeded to loudly respond to her remark since she loudly disrespected me there was a Chubby set lady who overheard me responding and asked me what happened she didn't apologize. She entertained the situation just telling them that they needed to stop that is so disrespectful. I proceeded to walk out of the restaurant and left my untouched food on the table. I'm so displeased black owned. Businesses provide a bad taste in people's mouth. I really wanted to support this restaurant because I seen it on social media, but with the service that I received and the disrespect, I will never be attending this again. You embarrassed me in front of others and you embarrass me in front of my own child. You don't know what someone may be going through, but that's what happens when you have children helping you run your business and unprofessionalism. I'm sure this review won't get anywhere, but I hope others have had this experience and can share their experience as well. UPDATE: The response I received showed a clear lack of empathy and accountability. You mentioned menus were available, yet I was never given one. More seriously, your staff attempted to remove strawberries from a waffle after I mentioned my son’s allergy — a dangerous move that could have sent him to the hospital. The dismissive comment made by your employee (“reading is fundamental”) was clearly audible, especially in such a small space. You were present and only addressed it after seeing my reaction — not because you took initiative. When asked directly, you deflected and refused to take responsibility, much like the other reviews I’ve now seen. You claimed I didn’t give you a chance to address the situation respectfully, but true professionalism shows in the moment — not after a customer expresses frustration. Sadly, this experience showed a lack of respect, awareness, and customer...
Read moreLet me say I knew what I was getting into before I came here because I knew of a restaurant that used to be in the same spot. That being said, because of how many people wanted to eat there the location's air conditioning couldn't handle the customer traffic flow. It was so hot that I had to leave after I got my food and couldn't stay to dine in even though I had a table. The fact that I got a table was a miracle because the place is so small. It can maybe seat 8 to 10 people total. There were very interesting things on the menu and you can see the cooks working hard to create each dish. When you finally do get your food, because there is a long wait, it is piping hot. After the wait and the heat, the food just tasted alright. I couldn't stay to eat. They should just make it a take out and delivery spot. The pricing is like eating at a more legit restaurant with seating, service, and ambiance. I had the French toast breakfast sandwich and my daughter had the Oreo pancakes. I think I would have liked it better if I ordered a regular breakfast sandwich and french toast separately. Good flavors were there but sometimes good things shouldn't be mixed together if you can't get the balance right. The French toast felt inferior as part of the sandwich but tasted pretty good when eaten separately. My daughter was not as excited with Oreo pancakes after she tasted it. I've had worse pancakes though. The Oreos where in the batter as well as part of the pancake topping. The Oreos should have been grounded more. The chunky pieces cooked in the batter weren't appealing. I would have liked to try one of the grits however they were extremely overpriced. If I ever go back I will go back on a weekday and I definitely wouldn't...
Read moreFrom the outside, this restaurant doesn’t look like much, and honestly, you might think twice before going in. But we did—and I’ll admit, the inside is absolutely beautiful.
My husband and I drove two hours south to try this spot after seeing it on IG, and we also wanted to support a Black-owned business. Unfortunately, that’s where the excitement ended.
We arrived at 11:30am, were greeted immediately, and seated right away. Our server—a younger woman whose name I can’t recall—was very sweet and attentive. Drinks came quickly, so we thought things were off to a good start.
We ordered food at 11:40am (French toast & chicken, and the Creole seafood omelette with lobster and shrimp). Here’s the problem: our food didn’t arrive until 2:30pm. Yes—you read that right. More than two hours to get our meals, and we weren’t the only ones. Multiple guests who arrived before us were also waiting endlessly.
When the food finally came, it tasted good. However, the menu descriptions are misleading: • The “French toast & waffle” should really be listed as French toast & wings. • The “Creole seafood omelette with lobster and shrimp” was actually closer to crawfish & shrimp.
The flavors were there, but waiting over two hours for a meal is unacceptable. As a professional chef myself, I know kitchens get busy, but if my team was that backed up, everyone would jump in to help push orders out. I even saw the cook step out of the kitchen, clearly frustrated, likely asking for help he never got.
Bottom line: The food was tasty, the service was kind, but the wait time was ridiculous. If this continues, they’ll lose a lot of customers. Sadly, despite the good flavors, we will not...
