ATMC takes full advantage of the ppl in Brunswick County, being the only Internet provider in the area they have jacked up their prices so high, they charge 2 & 3 times what other ISPs charge in other areas. During the pandemic, I was forced to get Internet Service as my kids were forced to be homeschooled during the lockdowns. I had no choice but to go with ATMC, they are the only provider in the area & they capitalize on that! Personally, I had used their services before at a previous address, but I had no outstanding bills, however when they looked up the address where I was residing at the time, they claimed they had found 2 different accounts for 2 different ppl from BEFORE I EVER MOVED IN & they told me I would need to pay BOTH ACCOUNTS in full before I could get Internet Service for myself at that address. These were 2 separate accounts that I had nothing to do with, from 2 seperate ppl that I never even knew existed & I was being told to pay BOTH accounts IN FULL before ATMC would allow me to get Internet Service. I explained to ATMC that I wasn't living at the address when these years old accounts were active, I had nothing to do with those contracts. Still, I was told that if I did not pay these 2 accounts then Internet would NOT be installed for my children's pandemic homeschooling. Essentially, I was strong-armed into paying 2 OTHER PEOPLE'S ACCOUNTS IN FULL (over $600) because they had previously lived at my address. At first I refused to pay, "how can they force me to pay other people's bills?" I thought. But I also needed immediate Internet for my children who has just been ripped out of school & sent home due to COVID & ATMC couldn't wait to take full advantage of the situation & my families disadvantage, they capitalized on our need for immediate Internet & the fact that there are no other ISPs in the area! I didn't really have a chance to fight it, I needed Internet right away for my children & THEY KNEW THAT! This was when the pandemic first hit & it was a time of great anxiety, confusion & fear & ATMC was more than happy to take advantage of that! They know ppl in this area don't have any other choice but to go with ATMC if they want Internet/Cable! Any chance ATMC gets to take advantage of the local people they will, without...
Read moreIt amazes me that i have emailed atmc two times and to my surprise they did not respond. Want and every year their prices increase. They are my highest bill of the month, even higher than my electric. As a Veteran they gave me a minimum discount but after a year they took that away. With their new building and pay raises they are happy and don't give a hoot about the Veterans or families within in Brunswick County. After reading some of the other reviews they are raising their voice on the same issues. I even paid a visit to they'main office in Shallotte and there customer service was the worst ever and the final words i got from them was "oh well". It's sad they atmc takes advantage of you, they have you by your private parts and don't give a darn. I have wifi, dvr box, cable tv and internet at $150, with the worst customer service. This is even higher than in Calif. With the email i sent about their customer service I didn't even get a "we apologize". I know i will not hear anything from them in regards to this review. Happy Holidays to atmc because i paid for your Holiday festivities because of how much you charge..... Thank you for your time... Your local Veteran who gave his life for your country my country in order for you to have the freedom you have today, to raise your rates so you will be...
Read moreATMC is twice as expensive as any other broadband service we have ever had and they have no respect for their customers. Our family has tried to use the On Demand service on weekends and as often as not have not been able to because "they oversold" the service and too many are trying to get on at those times. Every time we called to find out what the problem was the techs all told us that it was a problem in our house and we might have to pay for a service call. Then they keep you on the phone for a half hour telling you to reboot, etc. We finally got the real information after a deep dive into their bureaucracy. Tonight they switched off our service (phone, internet, tv) whilewe were using these without any notification or courtesy for about a half hour while they did something for someone else in the neighborhood. When we called they just said they didn't want to take the time to do courtesy notice. Meanwhile we stood watching the guys...
