I know this is a fairly new restaurant and we wanted to give it a try. The order of tostones were two and a half tostones - small, greasy and certainly did not appear to be fresh (even though we did ask & were told "yes they were just made). The prices are just too expensive; the chicken certainly did not taste fresh; the beef empanada's crust should have been flaky but instead it was extremely hard (the beef inside was good but it had to be eaten separately because the crust was too hard to bite).
The hostess (perhaps the owner) was very pleasant but the young girl that was our server simply could not wait to get away from the table. She would bring an overpriced glass of tea or the soda and immediately leave - no smiles, no greeting, hardly a word even to ask if we were ready to order - nothing - finally my husband said in the middle of placing our order, "Wait, don't run away, let me ask a question please". I know she was young & this was probably the last place she wanted to be, but we paid a lot of money to try this new restaurant and unfortunately for this local couple, it will be a while before we try it again - we'll let them get settled in and perhaps go through a tourist season before going back. Good luck!
This is an "edit" after reading the response from the owner: Thank you for replaying - perhaps just an off day for everyone. We will definitely give you another try & this time, ask for you specifically so we can have the opportunity...
Read moreCame across Aromas this afternoon for a solo lunch and was pleasantly surprised! I was looking for a meal that fed my soul, full of nutrients & love- I found exactly that! I started off with a Pisco Sour (my husband’s favorite, so I had to try it) and I have to say, it was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Truly. The cocktail was balanced perfectly with fresh citrus, authentic Peruvian pisco, egg whites, and dash of bitters. Trust me, I am serious about my cocktails (I run my own margarita business)! For lunch, I had the roasted chicken quarter with rice and plantains. It was delightful. The attention to detail in flavors & in cooking (execution) was apparent. Not only was the lunch enjoyable, but the staff were so attentive, friendly, & playful. I was eating lunch alone, but never truly felt alone, which really made my day. I had such a great experience that I had to take a dessert home with me to savor later. I just ate my flan as a nightcap and holy moly… I’ll be back to...
Read moreThe best peruvian food I’ve ever had at a restaurant in my life! No exaggeration whatsoever, I am so glad to have been able to bring my Peruvian mother with me to Aromas. Diego was so kind and friendly and Mrs. Nora’s flan was so fresh and delicious that I am so glad that we got the last two slices! We got almost the whole menu and nothing disappointed, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. We got the meatless empanadas, yuca balls, cheese tequeños, a pitcher of chicha morada, a glass of maracuya, three pisco sours, the fried rice with chicken (Chaufa), half a chicken with salad and black beans, a House ceviche and a ceviche clasico with a side of white rice (if you know, you know) and even the greek salad was amazing!! My sister in law who is vegetarian and had never had peruvian food before also absolutely loved everything she had and was impressed by all of the options for her. If you’re visiting or you’re local, do not miss out on coming here. We...
