I'm surprised to read other reviews, because our experience was completely different. My wife and I and 3 kids walked from our nearby home to get some treats for the holidays, but from the minute we walked in we were not made to feel welcome. We were asked "are you all together?" even though we waited until the store was empty to enter. Our children were quiet and well-behaved. When my wife asked about maple fudge, which is advertised on their instagram page, the answer was a curt "no". The staffer than said she'd be right back, and upon returning asked if we were ready. My wife said, "we're still deciding", she said "your still what??" They didn't have much to choose from and so we decided to take our business elsewhere. What a treasure of a place, when I am in need of gather a thank you gift or just remind the love of my life how much I love her I grab a box of chocolates from Johnson Candy Company. But the chocolates don't even start tackling the variety of candy you will find in this place. They have confections that I have not seen anywhere else, I'm not an expert but everything that I have tried is delicious. Sea dims, mint chocolates, candy coins, jelly beans, and dozens of options all just at your hands. This is heaven right at your hands. The employees are lovely ladies of a certain age that remind you this place is part of the very fabric of the business that made Tacoma the place is right now. So much history. I’m glad the reviews are so good. I agree that the salted caramels are yummy. The reviews also note the friendliness of staff. I shop there to support a unique local business. But it’s disheartening when three staff people are running around the store, so busy that no one comes over to serve me. They look at me but keep working on their own thing. I had to call out across the room two times that I was ready to check out. When someone finally comes over to serve me, there’s no smile or thank you for my patronage.
