Star Nail — Local services in Taos

On vacation, I racked up not one but TWO broken nails. I get SNS dip nails and was shocked as I've never had a broken nail ever in my years of getting them (my hunch is my home salon was cutting their products instead of using the real deal).

The owner here sat me down and worked meticulously. She was super sweet and gave me some great local pointers as she's been in the area for a long time. She did a great job on my dip nails, taking care to fix any teensy tiny things-- a real perfectionist in the best way possible!

It's cash or check only, which is the only bad part. But part of the small town vibe is that she let me run next door to Albertson's ATM to get the cash I needed to pay her, so no big deal.

I write reviews for everything but rarely nail salons as none of them ever take the time to really care. I feel like the owner went above and beyond to fix my nails and get them back into fighting shape, and you cannot believe how good it felt to go home and do normal things like peel a sticker off without risking another broken nail!

I would recommend making an appointment. I went on walk in and waited around 4 hours, but I had nothing else to do so I didn’t mind lol. She was the only one working so I understood why. I got a full set of acrylic and my sister got her nails just painted and for both of us it was 53$. One of the gel polish on my sister Peeled off the day after but mine are fine. Minor imperfections on my nails. I have ocd so I noticed but I doubt someone else would have. The place is nice, clean and she was friendly. Would be 5 stars but my ocd was bothered by the imperfections lol definitely will be...

I had an incredible experience at Star Nail yesterday. I received a pedicure by Danny? the gentleman there. He had an incredible attention to detail with polish, skilled at callouses and cuticle clean up while being gentle and conscientious about an area on my foot that I told him was hurting. He was friendly and it was nice to talk to him throughout the service. The woman was also very friendly taking me right before closing and checking me out at the end. Important to know they do not accept cards. I had to run over to Albertsons for cash...
