So an elderly client of mine had been a more or less regular here, getting trims and perms over the years, because she was cheap. After her long hair was becoming a pain my lady made an appointment to see Tiffany for her usual trim and perm. She had complications because Tiffany's crusty, low grade equipment (chair she had to sit in to wash her hair) wasn't able to accommodate older people. We finally accomplished that step and proceeded with the rest. As soon as we were out the door my client said it was cut way too short. I assured her it would grow fast and she insisted Tiffany forgot how she previously had it done because she didn't do it the same at all. The very next day the perm appeared to be slacking. I figured it was normal and we needed to take extra care of it, so we covered it in her loose fitting silk sleeping cap until the next day. Well, as the days went on it was apparent she didn't have a perm any longer. Just hair damage. Every single day after this Mrs. Lady would complain and cry how she wanted her hair to be curled! So I decide to call Tiffany because we shouldn't have to be dealing with this after we paid almost $100 to avoid it, by getting her a perm! So Tiffany proceeds to tell me her perm failed because she's on medication. I explain to her that none of the few medications she is on have hormones or any scalp affecting properties. They are very neutral and not of the FEW that can possibly have any influence on her dead hair. To my surprise she then says it failed because she couldn't reach the sink very well to rinse it out.. I then asked her "So it's because you couldn't rinse her hair?" She back peddled and said it was because her hair was too short. Then I said, "if you knew you had cut it that short, why did you continue with the perm? You are the professional" at which she got noticeably angry asking me what I expect her to do about it. I told her she was paid $90 to do a perm which failed, she should make it right. She then said she didn't want to talk to me, she wanted to talk to her daughter. I said her daughter doesn't live here & has nothing to do with this (I took her to the appointment so I dont feel its that far fetched that she talk to me). At that she said she does not want to talk to me and hangs up on me! I could not believe it! I was not rude to her! This woman is not a good business person. All the people that have been generous to this place and have left good reviews I suspect were only able to do so because they all had a complicated service (like a perm apparently is!) that ran into any problems. I'm pretty confident that if others have had any kind of issue, she would reveal her true colors, as she did with us. I can not recommend this business because her work is shoddy, she doesn't stand behind it and she shouldn't be doing business here when she treats her fixed income, elderly clients so callously, after she steals their money for a service that was not performed correctly. DONT GO TO TIFFANY'S Design if you want a quality perm that lasts.
Response to your response: WoW! Are you really going to come on here and lie like that in saying I cursed at you and called you names?? Just WOW! You are worse than I thought! Not only that but i never DEMANDED a dang thing. I answered your question of what I "wanted [you] to do about it" by saying for you to make it right. My natural inclination would be to give you the benefit of the doubt in thinking you were simply mistaken or maybe confused me with another unsatisfied customer, but since you blatantly LIED about me cursing at you I now know without a doubt that you are a LIAR. Yes it's true that she had gone to you for many years and she has always been happy with the job she recieved for the money she paid (which she said her husband * ALWAYS* PAID) but that all changed with this horrible experience. You are a LIAR & just like I said before you hung up on me, I am going to make sure everyone knows it. Pretty sad you feel it's ok to lie, when we both know exactly what happened. ...
Read moreI happened to be a patron in the Salon the day Serenah Starr was getting her nails done. The allegations she's made in her review are absolutely false. The stylist attending her was nothing but professional as I waited for my haircut. No such comments were ever made to her as I waited in a seat about 12 feet away. Ms. Starr appeared to have other intentions during her visit.. She asked if she could pay by credit card or check.. She was told politely several times to be careful with her nails as she dug through her purse since her nails haven't completely dried.. She continued to make eye contact with another male in the store she was with trying to communicate non-verbally with. As I was getting my hair cut, she appeared to be in a rush to leave and then handed the stylist money. "here".. No tip, no comment about her nails or anything and then rushed out. No sooner did she walk out the door, she walked back in claiming her nail was damaged and her boyfriend demanded she get her money back and that she was sorry.. He didn't pay for it nor did he come in to say anything. She was politely given her money back with no questions asked.. The whole scenario seemed like a scam to me and that she had no intentions of paying for the services rendered..
I've been a resident of Tehachapi for 4 years and have been to several other salons in town to get my hair cut.. This is a very small town with a lot of small businesses that make their livelihood here.. All the business folks here are very cordial and pleasant to talk with. They all take pride in their work.. I actually prefer going to Tiffany's Designs because l like the way she cuts my hair and how professional she is... She's been cutting my hair every two weeks for the past 4 years and I'll continue to visit her salon as long as I'm here... I'm sorry to see that Ms Starr's comments were less than truthful which prompted me to write my review of the scenario I witnessed..
Thanks for the great haircuts...
Read moreShe deserves 0 stars, if I stayed home my boyfriend could have done a better job. My side shave was uneven, she didn't part my hair to make an even shave. She butchered my boyfriends hair as well. He ended up shaving it all off at home. The cut wasn't what I wanted and I had a reference photo. Tiffany was short from the beginning she didn't even thoroughly inspect my hair before beginning to cut. Halfway through she discovered I had an undercut and asked about it. I said yes I had a side shave and undercut months ago but only wanted my sideshave redone. She gave me an eye roll when I gave her a crisp hundred dollar bill to pay and she asked if I had any smaller bills or a check or card, I said no. And she scoffed went to the back to get my change. I will never go here again or ever recommend her. ...
