I ordered the chilaquiles and really liked the flavor. They came with a small "salad" on the side (lettuce, tomato, avocado) as well as refried beans. The chilaquiles were cooked in a relatively mild tomatillo salsa. You can also choose between a green, red, and habanero salsa on the side if you wish. I really wanted carne asada today, so they allowed me to add it to the top for an extra charge, even though it's not usual. The chips were a little more soggy than I'd expect, but that's what happens when you order chilaquiles to go. Better to eat in!
I think they'll probably add the "meat" options to the menu soon, but today they told me they had beef (assuming shredded?), chicken, and carne asada.
This restaurant just opened up inside of the building (Tempe Farmers Market?) on the SE corner of University and Farmer. It shares the space with a coffee shop during the day. There are a few booths for seating as well as tables. There's plenty of parking in front of the business, but you could easily park along Farmer Ave if needed.
The owners are very kind and helpful! I'll definitely be back to try more...
Read moreWow wow wow… this place is absolutely amazing! The food is as delicious as it is advertised! I had the green sour cream enchiladas and it didn’t disappoint. The rice and beans were also on point! My girlfriend had the Huarache, and she finished the entire thing. Alex was such a great host and took the time to explain the dishes and what he felt were the most popular. The salsa were also a great complement to the food as well. I don’t think I’ve had such great Mexican food in quite some time and would definitely recommend people stop and try this place out! It definitely deserves the...
Read moreExcellent new addition to the Valley. Yes, Mexican food is everywhere, but this place merits attention, as the cooking is very, very good. Owners said that the food is Puebla-influenced. Enmoladas and tamales both excellent. Table next to me had huaraches, which also looked terrific. Habanero and red chile salsas both very tasty and quite punchy on the heat level. Not weakened/Americanized.
Based on my first visit, I would go back and order everything else. Incredible to have this place so close to ASU and not far from downtown...
