The store has many items you cant find anywhere else in temple including coins ,autographs scifi memorabilia ,wiccan items ,Christian items , comics and yes Confederate items and to the gentleman who complained about them you need to actually pick up a book and read it. Those same items were carried at walmart till a year ago before they gave into pressure from other people who had no idea there meaning. They stand for heritage to a lot of people and they deserve a place to buy them just as much as people deserve a place to buy Christian books and wiccan items. The particular flags are simply battle flags and never had a slave bought or sold under them. All the slaves in the u.s were bought under the u.s flag and were sold into slavery by other tribes and black muslims who raided their villages because they were not Muslim. A study from ohio university shows that almost a million Europeans were sold into slavery in the middle east by the same people. So sir quit being the problem with america by trying to find racism under every rock where it doesn't exist and maybe pick up a book while you are there and learn a little before you make such...

So let me first say that I love real books. Books I can hold in my hand. One of the things I didn't really care for is that on the older books or even some of the other books they didn't have prices for them they had to Google them. And you know if I go into half price books they have markings. I didn't really care for that. I will say that there is a lot of books in that store. it's a little chaotic but there are a lot. I do believe that the community should come together and you know even if you buy one book at 10 bucks or a couple of books to assist with keeping a brick and mortar bookstore open that's what should happen. My only advice would be to have pricings already on the books or bookmarks with prices on them especially for the really old books so that there's no guessing game. I collect really old antiques books, Maps, you name it. And the people were really...

This place was a 0 STARS if I could. This place is just too many things going on like first off this place in on a corner of a building downstairs to this very small stinky staircase. Second this place was filled with a lot of stuff. I felt like I was in an episode of Hoarders, there is literally no room for you to walk, no organization, it stinks like piss. This place made me super uncomfortable. I didn’t even know why I made such a long drive to give this place a shot I live in austin and this place being in temple was just too much. And this place didn’t exceed my expectations. It was not even what I expected. I was very shocked. Definitely not...

In previous years, I've avoided The Book Cellar as it was dark and unorganized. I'm happy to say there have been great improvements! There's two ladies working now that are doing a great job making the environment cleaner, more organized, and safer to walk around. Happy to see security cameras, seating area, and lights installed. Light up sign outside now tells customers when the store is open so you don't have to walk down the stairs to check. Loved the Stephen King bookcase! So creative and welcoming. Will definitely come again. The ladies are so nice, and open to chatting about concerns or recommendations!

Tuesday. Drove up from Austin area. Arrived an hour before opening (12pm). Went to next door bakery and sat outside at table on sidewalk to watch entrance for staff arrival. Came back to staircase and note cardboard sign saying “Re-Open tomorrow,” that wasn’t there when I first arrived. Hours of operation only show Saturday hours. Phone goes to message saying voicemail not setup so no way to confirm open status, or leave a message. Frustrating is best description of today’s experience.

Interesting bookstore located on a basement, with a wide variety of books and comic books. I loved the SciFi section, but they also have plenty of books in other genres, including: fiction, history, politics, children books, cooking, crafts, sports, and many more. They also sell a variety of collectibles and antiques. The customer service is excellent and the prices are good. Definitely worth a visit to this unique place.
